Depends, I guess, on why you want them.... for looks primarily or functionality and protection. I live on rural gravel roads and like the protection aspect and the wider stance of a running board over steps or bars for better sure footed safety. To that end, I have grown partial to stainless steel running boards. My last pickup, and my current one have gotten Raptor running boards. Great side body protection from rocks and such, and they look pretty good.

I've got wide OEM ones gjernagan16 and really like them. Had smaller round ones on a previous truck and the extra width is nice.

Only issue I've had is the flat chrome surface shows dirt on underside of truck in reflection :-(

I have the round ones because they came on the truck, but am not a fan of running boards for two reasons.

1. I'm tall, so I step out past running boards. I live in Wisconsin and ice fish, so I'm often stepping out onto slippery conditions. Stepping out over, there is a need for trraction. Easier to slip and fall climbing out.

2. They collect mud offroad in summer, and ice in winter.

They look nice, and this is the 3rd set I've had, but they're not something I look for.

I have the round ones too, and they can VERY slippery!

And I think GM should've put the the larger square ones on the HD trucks as I think they look more stout than the round ones and match the HD truck better.

Why not have your round one - spray with Line-x .

I like having the 6" wide OEM boards myself, had 5" nerfs on my last truck and the 6" just a little bit better.

AMP boards or nothing

+1

They cost a little more and look like a gimmick but once you have them you'll wonder why you didn't get them sooner. They are just the right width and height to make getting in and out of the truck simple!

I ended up getting the 3 inch diameter tubular nerf bars from Westin; i think that is the perfect size. I had the 4 inch diameter ones for my Ram and it looked nice, but I thought they looked too big for my Silverado and Sierra
