Got it now. oh crap, I forgot to write it was a powered sub. They do have a non powered version also that is wired at 2 ohms.

I fell like it would be better than firing them into the back of the seat and console.

You want the throw of the cone. And doing that I think would restrict it

I'm still trying to figure out how much power to send the tweeters and mids before anything else.

qwank Posted June 7, 2018 Author Posted June 7, 2018 Just now, Nasty said: Are you running passive or active ? they are passive of the head unit right now, but I want to go 4 way active.

Nasty Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Actuslly tbere nkt many active capable 6ch amps. Theres audison and audiocontrol that I know of for sure. Audison might not be enough power. The audiocontrol is 125x6. Which is fine. You just have to be careful. Maybe getting a dsp would be best for you and then a jl 6ch. Welcome to one of the most expensive hobbies 1

It's a twelve channel with 25w x 8 built in. I figured I could power the tweeters with the 25w and then get a 4 channel amp for the mids and midbass. Or I could use the DSP with an oldschool Alpine 3566 six channel amp sending 30w x 4 to the tweeters and mids, and 60w x 2 to the midbass. https://alpine-usa.com/product/view/advanced-wireless-digital-signal-processor-pxe-0850s
Nasty Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Second choice would be better in my opinion. I'm just not an alpine guy haha 1
Marv88 Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 (edited) When I first read that 1/4 ohm I thought you meant it could be wired 1 or 4 ohms! I considered firing rearward and as long as you leave enough room between the cone and a hard parallel surface you won't have to worry about preloading (choke them as nasty mentioned) Edited June 7, 2018 by Marv88 1

I've been using Alpine almost exclusively for 20 years. Here's a picture of some of the older radios I've collected over the years. That amp on the bottom is a class A from the early 90s that's going to be going in my Corvette. Here's the famous 7909J with it's cassette equivalent, 7620J Edited June 7, 2018 by qwank
