The best part of these app controlled DSPs is you can play with the apps before buying the actual DSP.

I was messing around with the desktop version of the JL Audio DSP and it seems like it's going to everything I need.  The Preamp outs are actually separately configurable so the amp acts like a 8 channel, with 6 powered channels and 2 pre amp channels.  Perfect for what I need right now.

Looks like it is basically the same processor as the Twk 88 which should do you well.

LOL! I sometimes ask that same question to myself when I read your posts especially on the suspension!

And they say a picture is worth a thousand words.  Imagine sharing that information in words!! :D

Saw that coming. I understand most things when spelled out slowly. It's the abbreviations and acronyms that are trade or topic specific that blur my grasp as I don't speak that language. When it comes to suspension I feel like a first grader when I talk to the people at King or ADDCO.

Audio is one of those fields whose language translates like mud to me. I'd understand Dutch better.

I love classical music and in a large acoustically clean venue I'm in heaven. In the confines of a regular cab truck replication is beyond my skill set. Tinnitus doesn't help either. To much ZZ Top, Colts and Harleys as a younger me. Carry on...please. I can go for days without a peep in the cab. My memory plays better music that my radio anyway. :seeya:

PS. Still love this truck and your build of it.

So I ended up getting the JL Audio VX600/6i because it best fit what I need as a all in one unit. It fits in the console but not sure I'm going to install it there. It's a little too tall to fit under the passenger seat but might work if I cut the carpet out. I may just mount it to the back wall behind the driver's seat. We'll see.

Nice! I misread the specs first time I looked and thought they only had 10 bands of parametric EQ total but it's actually 10 bands per channel so I'm gonna consider them again!

The only thing I wish it had was some kind of De-EQ, which you need to buy their Fix82 or 86 and put in front of this to take care of.  I don't know how much built in EQ our non Bose radios have, but I know GM is known to slope the bass down the louder the volume goes.

Bass limiter is common in factory radios these days to keep you out of the warranty aisle with blown speakers but it's easy to get around by setting the gains at a point before it drops off (you can get a cheap rta or spl app and mic for your phone and use a test tone to find that spot) and just remember that's the max volume. Also, if they built in a funky eq curve you have enough processing available to undo that  yourself unless its volume dependent in which case you would need something like the fix (drag in that case is you would need to use an external volume control)

Didn't want to get to get you too excited until I had a chance to go over the manual thoroughly to make sure it will do all of what we need it to do!

3,500 miles.

Test fitting my sub as I gut the interior. I think I'm going to try rear fire, there's a good 3" between the subs and wall if i remove the carpeting and insulation. In these pics the box is in front of the stud for the spare tire tools. I'll probbaly leave the stud there so I can bolt the box to something.

I have problems already, I just noticed looking at the pics I never tried to flip the jumpseat up, sure enough, it won't flip up with the sub box there.  if I push it against the back wall firing forward it will, but it's a little too long and won't fit once I put the middle seat belt back in.  Back to the drawing board.... :shakehead:

Single sub is best or switch to a center console

    • I will admit I haven't experimented much with pressure drops beyond the numbers I put in and part of that is that the numbers I used are fairly low and then found out it would trigger regardless at that 35 psi. Having said that I had tried before had changed the placard pressures and being that I have a 1 ton set to 80 on the placard for the rear I believe it triggered close to 60, the front I don't recall now for sure but thought maybe it could get close to 45 from that factory 60 placard pressure. So I never did figure out if it was a number of psi from placard pressure to the alarm or a percentage of the total placard number as some figured it was like a 25% drop from placard pressure would trigger it. So as to try and answer your question, I believe I set the placard pressure on the front to 47 or so and while I run the front tires at 40, they have dipped below that some if its colder and I haven't put "winter air" in yet and never once have had the front alarm go off. I would say that the answer your looking for is no, that if you set your placard pressure to 45, you have a certain amount of room to drop below that pressure before the alarm will go off.    The pressures you decide to run in your truck, that ends up being what makes sense to you based on what your carrying in your truck or if towing, then have to bump them back up to something that will carry the load in the rear and the fronts typically left at the same pressure. It all comes down to that chart I put the link to and using an accurate roadside scale to be your guide, both unloaded and then loaded to know your minimum safe pressures.    I just wish GM would allow a person to change the readings for the tire pressures to the English system of pounds as I have to look at that goofy metric reading that will never ever jive in my head and will go over and change it just to figure out what they are if need be and then change it back.
    • That part I understand, that the dealer can do it. But I'm not understanding why updates that were available to the truck since it left the factory, or the dealership originally, would not still be available to it without dealer intervention.   I'm thinking along the lines of recalls. They stay available until they are completed. Why not updates as well, especially since some of those can be safety related also?
    • That's good to know, but I don't think I'll even be running them under 45 in the rear  unless it's on the sand or something but will only be for a short distance anyways!    I didn't read all the instructions in the booklet yet, but do you know let's say I set the rear psi on the placard to 45, will the warning light come on soon as it drops under 45 or is there a percentage it has to drop from the set value before the warning light is triggered?
    • That's bad.  Like, its probably destroying the stub axle the CV slides into.   Do you have a proper lift installed with differential lowering brackets?  Did you install AT4/Trail Boss factory CV axles?
    • Hot? New Jersey? Today? I was working on my old 2000 Silverado 1500 today. Believe me, it was boiling hot today. As it has been.
