antenna question

has anyone replaced their antenna with a shorter one on a 2014 silverado ???

I replaced mine with a local auto store 5" and it was a huge mistake lol.

I live in the Bay Area and there are hills and mountains everywhere I drive so my AM/FM RADIO is basically useless now. But it looks way better!

The 6 & 3/4 inch antenna from antenna mast rus is excellent. It's short, looks good, direct screw on replacement, and best of all the reception is as good as stock. I replaced mine with a Stubby but I am having some reception issues so I was thinking about adding an antenna amplifier. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

thanks i was wondering about reception as well, an antenna amp might be the way to go i have never used one but you would think it would work

Just to let you know I did try an antenna amplifier, but even with the amplifier I was still not getting very good reception so I removed it and I guess I will be going back to the factory antenna.

I also live in the Bay Area. I had replaced the original antenna with a shorty 7" version. Radio reception suffered. After a while I couldn't take it anymore, so I switched back to original antenna.

I got a 13" at auto zone wrapped to look like carbon fiber, actually get better reception than OEM

This short 6 3/4" antenna is the best performing short antenna we have yet to test. It will almost scan in as many stations as a 21" antenna.

I cut mine off at about 20" and glued on a plastic cap. It's now the same height as the cab. I mostly listen to XM but it will still pick up radio stations 50 miles away.
