after doing a good bit of research I ordered the toyo open country at2 35x12.5x20s.. now a few friends are razzing me saying I should have gone nitto or micky thompson..

I think they are more into looks where Im looking for minimal noise and longer life.

what do you think?

Thought Toyo and nitto are the same company

I don't believe so. I've ran nitto and was disappointed, and I've had 5 sets of Toyo and loved every set

Great tires. I ran them on my old Tundra for 60k+ miles. Super quiet, very soft ride. I had 35x12.50-18 on it. Went from Pro-Comp Extreme A/T's to those and it was night and day difference. I actually pulled over a half mile down the road from the tire place because I thought they forgot to inflate them all the way the ride felt so soft. True story! They don't have aggressive side lugs like some of the newer A/T's do but they sure rode good.

Sadly it's true both are owned by Toyo holdings corp USA.

You made the right choice with the Toyos. Every truck I see locally that has worn out AT tires is sporting Nitto Terra Grapplers.

I've had 3 sets of toyos. One street performance on my older truck and AT2's on this truck leveled and now 35" RT's after the lift and all three sets have impressed me. They are great tires for sure and I think they look killer. Ride good and wear good

I had Tera grapplers on a Yukon and they lasted a long time and ran great. I kept them rotated and they were 35s. I drove it pretty hard too. I had 30-40k on them and they still had decent tread. Very quiet and had decent traction.

What kind of weight were these trucks with them worn out? Maybe nitto doesn't like weight but they were jam up on my SUV.

My truck was properly lifted with a BDS. It's hard to judge if it's 18 year olds jacking keys with alignment issues. A lot of the young fellas out my way do just that....and also a lot have nitto.

Just a thought.
