Did you use the advanced or easy tune? Advanced tune should allow you to access AFM and throttle boost. When you go through advanced you select your canned engine (91 or 87) and transmission tunes (firm, hard) then you should be able to select modify tune. This is where you can access more advanced settings for the engine and transmission.

Thank you for the comment! I actually installed an advanced tune last night and was able to find how to modify parameters. Diablo 91+ tune, Turned off AFM, speed limiter, firm shift, 5% throttle boost. Drives MUCH better now!

My speedo is off still but in the other direction. Apparently putting in the measurement the manufacturer states doesnt correct your speedo.

Anyone find the sweet spot for 275/70/18 tires?

They are 33.25" tires, but putting that in results in the speedo being 4-5% high rather than 4-5% low like it was before.

Guess I need to split the difference.

The tires spec out to 33.25 but that is the tire alone without any load. Try measuring the tires from the ground up (while mounted, thus under load/weight of the truck) and using that measurement in the device? As that would be the true height of the tire that is rotating under the truck?

I did 32.5 for my ko2s. It's only under by 1 mph.

Thanks for the tips guys! Are your ko2's 275/70/18?

I was thinking 32.75 might be about right.

Yup that's the size. And actually I was wrong. At 70 mph the truck reads 71. So I'm over one.

Just putting the correct tire size didn't work for you guys?

Are you referring to putting in the actual tire dimensions as 275/70/18? or the advertised height?

I tried the advertised height (33.25) and it was way off.

I finally found 32.35 seemed to be almost dead on.

This time that i changed the speedo i also bumped the throttle boost up to 8% from 5%... I think i'm going to bump it back down, but not sure. It is a TON OF FUN to drive like this, but it is visibly dropping the average MPG. the 5% was good already, so i may sacrifice that tad bit and get some mpg back... But i'm going to finish this tank of gas the way it is just to see. At 70MPH yesterday i was getting about 22-25mpg though. Which was really nice compared to the 17-18 i usually get.

Yea I put in the tire size. I'm assuming it's as accurate as it was with the factory tires at this point. It seems pretty darn close compared to GPS but I'm running 275/60R20 Duratracs (measures 33.0" according to good year)

My mpg took a hit because I'm running 20% throttle boost. I just love how little pedal input I need when I'm on the highway. Never realized how tired my foot gets on the highway until I tried it.

Nice. I will have to try that next time i readjust the tune.

I am thinking I may try the 87 tune with the same settings and see how it does, since that is easier to get around here than 91.

Most gas stations around here only have 90.

Wanted to add an update with my diablo intune I2. I programmed the MPG booster and disabled the upshift torque management and added 5% to throttle boost. I took the Burban on a 1100 mile trip this weekend and unfortunately fought a 10-15 mph head or sidewind at all times. It was nearly all interstate driving at 80 - 85 mph. About 25 miles were in town and I averaged 19.8 mpg. Highway only I was up to 22 at some times. Before the MPG booster tune I guarantee in these conditions I could only expect 16-17 mpg overall average. This tuner really makes a difference and the throttle response is much better as well.

Have you noticed any difference in shifting with upshift TM off? I originally turned upshift TM off but noticed I would occasionally get a weird shift. Would be really firm one time and soft the next. Ended up turning upshift TM back on and shifting is more consistent now. I also added 15% throttle boost and I really like that. Don't have to press the throttle so much to get the vehicle to accelerate. Might even bump it up to 20%.

I have my Silverado 5.3 throttle boost set to 20%. Throttle response is excellent, and where it should be stock in my opinion. However with the 20% boost I have noticed definite decline in mileage and the trans tends to stay in higher gear around town. Engine stays 1500-2000 rpm just coasting down hill or slower traffic because of the high throttle input. I am going to back the boost off because it is kind of annoying having the engine at higher rpm at light cruise. I can punch the throttle and make it upshift, but still annoying.

I love that this thread continues to develop.

So again I adjusted the tune to try to better my gas mileage. Currently running the 91 advanced with AFM off, TM off, and throttle boost at 0%. I haven't noticed any rough shifts yet and I've been running this now for about two months. MPG is still just ok at 15-17 mixed. Highway I'm just breaking 20.

The TM being off doesn't do as much as I thought it would. Just better response off the line. I don't beat the truck so for now I'm going to leave it. I need to do an excel spreadsheet so I can remember this stuff. I wish the Diablo allowed you to just download the latest tune to your laptop so you can view/remember it.

Here is a post I made in another Diablo thread regarding TM:

The first time I tuned with the inTune i2 I turned upshift TM (torque management) off and went with the firm shift setting. While the shifts were firmer, they were randomly firmer. Every so often the 1-2 shift would be really firm and then sometimes soft. After doing more research on upshift TM I decided to turn it back on (stock setting). I think the shifting is more consistent now. Partial throttle shifts are a little more firm then stock and WOT shifts are firm but not harsh. This is what Mike on the DIablosport forum said about upshift TM:

"we often recommend leaving the upshift abuse mode TM enabled as it can lead to sloppy shift feel when disabled, as you may have discovered. TM on the engine side is already disabled in the tunes."

"this is TM specific to when the trans upshifts in 'abuse mode' meaning heavy throttle/WOT, leaving it on allows the pcm/tcm to make the shift smoother, turning it off removes any timing/throttle adjustments to smooth out the tune."

It sounds like there are two TM settings. One on the engine side and one on the transmission side. The engine TM is turned off in the canned ECM settings (87 or 91 tune). The transmission TM (upshift TM setting) is the only user selectable TM option and is under the advanced TCM settings. I plan to leave it on as I think it feels better and really don't see any reason to turn it off as I don't think it affects throttle response (power to the ground). Appears it simply pulls timing between shifts and turning it off can potentially cause slopping shifting.

    • Even tougher is the 5.0 / 302. That's what this one has.    https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   https://postimg.cc/4n3F3yzY   Just realized I had the airbox removed in the engine pic, lol.
    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
