Regret?

My favorite style was the 01-04 GMC 1/2 tons. The cloth seats were the best, and the trouble free 5.3s. If I find a clean low milage one I'll buy it.

I love the fact that the front end treatment on my '14 is only for two years. Who would want a truck that looks the same for 5 years? 10 years? I guess none of the young lads on here remember when they would completely retool every year. Anyone remember the (cars) 53,54,55,56,57,58,59,60,61, Chevrolet's? That was the good ole days. But then again I think my '14 Z71 grille looks waaay better than that hockey mask the Z's are currently wearing. No offense, just me. Plus I have one of the last models that doesn't have some stupid looking "Christmas " lights all over my truck. And you guys with '16's and up, keep your hate mail to yourself. I can assure you I understand the reason for all the new light treatments. I just don't like 'em. It's good to be different.

But......the Z71's in white do look pretty sexy in a "Stormtrooper" 'kinda way. Lol And don't even get me started 'bout the hideous new hoods on some of these trucks. Yuck! Haha The new 2500 hoods exemp. They're not too bad. That is IF they are there for something other than filling up full of pine cones, evergreen needles and two inches of bird shit. Just kidding, I know what they're for.

If GM wants to impress me they can do something regarding the stupid square wheel wells. Just because these trucks vibrate like a CostCo shopping cart with two squared off wheels doesn't mean they have to look the part. I mean the last time I looked wheels/tires were sorta in the form of a circle. Haha It shure would make it easier to run some 35 inch tires.

I'm glad I bought my 14 . I bought my truck right before the price increase was added . I believe it was like 1,500 dollars around the end of 2013 . I also have my truck in Topaz blue which still is my favorite color of this generation trucks . It was replaced with deep ocean blue in 15 . Which is still a nice color but imo I like the topaz blue better. The only thing that bothers me is that the only info screen I could get in a regular cab was the 4.2 inch . Then in 2015 they added the option of the bigger screen to the regular cabs.

Yeah, but don't you wish you could get a regular cab, short bed, with 8 in screen, 6.2, and other goodies only offered in LTZ or the Sierra equivalent?

I agree I love that color. When I bought my 15 I wanted that color and they said they don't make it any more. I was kinda bummed, but I think it was the best looking blue for sure.

Yeah I wish too. If they made a Regular cab with the 6.2 it would be in my garage!

No regrets here. The bad thing about this is that nobody seems to remember trucks before GM put out the previous gen 07-13. That was 7 years of pretty much the same exact truck. The years before that 99-06 GM (at least GMC) had a change in the outer looks about every 2-3 years. Now it looks as if they are getting back to that cycle of changing the trucks just a bit every so often.

I like the exterior of the 04-06 Silverado. The interiors of the 14+ Silverados is really what did it for me. Finally feels modern.

I am curious to see how much difference the next generation truck is going to be over current trucks ..

My guess is not a huge change more of a refresh (think gen 5 to gen 6 Camaro styling). Big change will most likely be aluminum (beds?)

I do like the looks of the 16-17's, but one thing I do like about my 15 better-warranty. I see they changed it to 5 year 60,000 power train and now only 2 years of oil changes and tire rotation.

My '15 is only 2-years/24k oil change and rotate

Aluminum beds!!!!! NOoooooooo!!!!!!!!! Why!!!!!!! God! Why! As Trump would say ... "Turrible" "this is turrible" lol

Adjective

Dreadful, Awful, Appalling,Horrific

Use in a sentence

" I was carrying my Mother's wheel chair in the back of my Ford truck and when I had to oh so slightly hit the brakes, due to there being a tiny amount of morning dew in the bed of the truck the chair slid from the tailgate end of the bed towards the cab side and created a TERRIBLE caved in dent that nearly caused a rip in time and space therefore nearly creating a singularly commonly known as a BLACK HOLE.

True story btw

But seriously if everyone is going to make their beds out of aluminum then there should be some type of bed liner applied from the factory.

Even on my Silvy the last time I hand washed it I thought my arm was going to punch through the front fender just trying to scrub of a little bird crap. Terrible. Good thing with the weight savings I might save half a penny per mile.

    • .30” of rain all month and it’s been weeks since that. “Mowed” our two properties today for the first time since July 2nd. It only took 30 minutes because all I had to do was level some weeds and saplings in a few problem areas. Everything else is dead.
    • Dealer reported a failed shifter module assembly so the whole shifter is getting replaced. Yet another premature repair… up to $12,000+ in extended warranty payout in only 5 years and 80,000 miles!
    • According to the dealer it’s an internal leak/failure of the compressor.  Again, another failure that shouldn’t happen at only 5 years and 80k miles.  For some reason the compressors must be hard to come by right now, because the truck’s been at the dealer almost a week and they just located a compressor at another dealer several states away today.  We’ll see if this fixes the issue.
    • I'm not sure if this should be a reply on this thread or a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - ACDelco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles. When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so i did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance.
    • I wasn’t commenting on your post. Certainly wasn’t arguing. I was making an observation on my long term experience with supposedly proper length of driving for proper heat cycles. Works for me. Although I have seen water or vapor come out of exhaust when vehicles weren’t run very long and shut off. It’s very humid in the morning. Then hot and humid.
