Does your traction control work like it is supposed too?

I have been driving pickup trucks and rear wheel drive cars my whole life and know how to drive a truck in the rain/snow but my 2014 has got to be the worst I have owned when it comes to getting loose in the rain, especially going up hills when the truck needs to downshift. I have been in my silvy for 2.5 years now so I know at what point she want to drop gears and can anticipate the slippage so these days I mainly get it loose just to see if the traction control will come on. The TC never comes on immediately into a rear wheel slip and only engages about half the time, the the other half I just have to let go of the gas to get traction back. My ford work truck is just the opposite, the TC works too good and will bring the truck to a near stop if you the tires get too loose. As I mentioned, been in the truck for a while now and usually break traction on purpose on wet roads just to see what it will do and very rarely does the TC light come on, usually just spins till I let go of the gas. I also know the stock GY's are crap tires but that still don't explain the lack of TC engaging.

I've had my 2015 Sierra1500 SLT for about a year and a half, and have had it break the rear loose in the rain about 3 or four times now. I drive a two lane canyon road to and from work, and like you mentioned, when going uphill with wet road the truck will sometimes break the rear tires loose and skate a little bit. Did it to me just this morning. This happens at around 30 to 40mph, so it doesn't take much.

I agree that the factory issue Goodyear's are junk. I've got 18,600 miles on the truck and the tires are probably more than half gone already. However, it does seem like the traction control isn't doing anything either. I usually end up having to pedal the truck a little until the tires regain traction.

I agree. I have debated using 4auto before in the rain to help prevent crashes. It's that bad I feel like. I don't know why the TC doesn't kick in. It seems to work when I want to play around, but not when I need it too. Pulling into traffic is scary in the rain. Never know if I will be able to gain traction or not.

My TC works perfect about 95% of the time whether on dry ground or rain/snow conditions, but it's flat like a pancake in these parts. The only time I gotta watch is when I pull into traffic when it's wet out - I make sure I'm in 4wd or I make sure I take the TC into account and wait till there's enough room to pull out.

Yeah, the nannies suck! Everyone is always saying "if you have to use 4 auto then you just don't know how to drive" Well if you had the aggressive BB tune I have you would have to use it every time it rained,Goodyear SRA's or not. The op is right the TQ sucks. Hell, sometimes I even just play around with it when the roads are wet and spin the tires a little for a quarter mile just for kicks. But I really love the look on the eco boost/Hemi owners face when my "wimpy" little 5.3 smokes the shite out of them on an E85, very aggressive timing, mean TCM tune and 4 auto launch, wet or dry.

I pulled out kind of fast to get in front of a car a month or so ago in the rain, and the traction control turned on. Had to take my foot off the gas and mash it again because it bogged down so much. TC came on again. Had to lift off the gas and hit it again. Not safe IMO.

We had about 1/4" of ice this Am and 2 Winters in Denever snow the TC is amazing on these trucks. I have never had it not work when needed nor work when not needed.

You can only temporarily turn it off, but it reengages automatically at speeds over 35 mph. Mine has been finnicky too.

Traction control will stay disabled until you cycle the ignition. Stability control comes back on at 35, unless your in 4-Lo.

Does TC/SC work like it is suposed to? No, when i turn it off it decides to put itself back on, regardless of what I want. Not all trucks spend their life roaming city streets.

Pull your ABS fuse or a wheel speed sensor. You'll lose antilock brakes but also disable all the nannies.
