Black Bow-Ties

Anyone have any idea why the "black bow-tie" option on the Silverado costs $185? As far as I can tell the only difference is the color of the two plastic inserts. Seems very odd.

It's a rip off. I just Plasti-dipped mine black and they look great. I had a few people ask if they were the factory ones, so I think I achieved the same effect by spending a couple bucks on a can of Plasti-dip :)

I covered the bow-tie on my '16 Tahoe with vinyl. I bummed the vinyl from my daughter, so it cost me nothing, and looks perfect!

pgamboa has a set for sale in the for sale section for less than half that price.

I just sold them for $70 for front/back. The back was brand new.

They are replacement bowties that is why. Its parts + labor factored into the $185 as the dealer is who installs them when they are ordered with a truck and shipped as a dealer installed accessory. The bowties themselves retail for $150 if you did them yourself. Its 1/2 hour to install ($35 using GM's $70/hr accessory labor rate) gets you the $185 total.

Again...they are replacement bowties, not an insert, overlay, anything like that. I have them on my 2015 HD. No chips, fading, nothing, no vinyl to have a chance to peel...
