Best Mudflaps for 2500

Hello.....I recently put weathertech flaps on my Silverado and they mount nicely and look good but they allow a lot of splash on the body both front and rear. Has anyone discovered something that performs better? Thanks.......Icky

From what I've read, it seems like a rubber works best since they can flex and move. The solid plastic ones seem to get broken pretty easily, at least if you actually go off-road or live where there's a lot of snow. I know the plastic ones usually look better since they're molded to the body, but I don't like sacrificing function for looks.

I think oem splash guards are a joke, they a not long/low enough to prevent rocks from hitting truck.

I buy big, ryderfleetproducts.com and cut to fit. Like to keep front only an inch or two off the ground.

These is what I pieced together. Aluminum splash guards on rear. Huge and solid, fronts still have give. Weighted bottom to keep down driving. And use only stainless hardware.

Not a single chip on the rocker panels over 796,000 miles.

Im not impressed with the Weather Tech ones i have either. My steps had so much mud and dirt on them the wife asked of it was miners moss from the Gold Rush show. I LMAO when she said that. I cut some stainless strips and some rubber and extended the front ones down. It really helps alot. Guess thats why I never had steps on any other truck ive had.

Luverne heavy duty rubber are what I run on mine. Lots of protection and have a nice stainless detail at the bottom. Had em on my last truck too. Had 125k and almost no Rick chips which is amazing with how much gravel driving I do.

For the time being I added 5 inches of rubber to the bottom of my front weathertech flaps. I used 2 inch body side molding tape to fasten it to the inside of the flap and then let 5 inches hang below. I bought a small steel bar to pop rivet along the bottom of the rubber to weight it down and keep it straight. It doesn't look bad and this is just an experiment as I already spent the money on the weathertech and would like to salvage them if possible. Knowing what I know now I would get gatorbacks from this point forward.

I have the Husky Liners Kickback flaps on my 3500HD. Fit good and look good too.

Do you have any pics to share?

I am considering these or the husky molded flaps.

I have been happy with the OEM flap. They have held up thru many car washes and have never chipped any paint.

    • Uh yes, that's the name of the package. It doesn't quite bring it up to 1 ton specs unfortunately and imagine they have to do that for a numbers reason rather than a physical one.    Am I correct though that the Max Trailer Package and therefore the 12" rear is only available on the Duramax and not on any of the L8T 3/4 ton trucks ( and that the same 11.5 rear axle center section is used on the 3/4, 1 ton SRW and even 1 ton dually gas version ) ?   I'd also be curious to know if the wheel bearings are the same on a SRW configuration between an 11.5 vs the 12" diff as I assume parts would show that up but may not explain what the difference is if indeed there was a physical difference.
    • Why is gas up? Same reason the deficit is now $40 Trillion.
    • Mobil up another dime this am , $3.89, others will probably go up later. Any ideas on the reason for the increase other than greed? I've been working 14 hour days and haven't caught the news in a few days.
    • AMSOIL SS is about prevention and it is very good at it's job. I've never seen it claim to be a cleaner however like Valvoline R&P. Almost any oil that has some Ester or Alkylated Naphthalene in sufficient quantity will do a good job at keeping the rings functional.     I see the market splint among these types in two groups; those that use the same tech in every weight grade and those that reserve the tech for the EPA (EPA) friendly grades. Mobil 1 for example keeps the Advanced Clean chemistry out of the SAE 40 and up weights. Other like HPL (top shelf group and No-VII), Red Line HP, TORCO, MPT30K use the tech in all grades. Just not something the Wally World oils are into.
