Not sure the link will work but here it is. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/142431734978

The truck is a 2017 Sierra SLE crew cab. Moving the pins in the connector should be easy for me, can probably do it with my eyes closed, lol. I was looking at just adding the required wires to get the lights working. I know you said you have a DIY option. What options are there for those lights. The rear facing LEDs are tied in with the cargo lights I believe. The front facing lights, are they marker lights or signals? That I'm not sure of. I think stock they use them as marker lights, but I'm am not sure if that is an option with my truck, or if the harness only allows it to be connected as a signal. I have weather tight connectors with all the pins and crimpers here at work that are commonly used on vehicles, but they all have round pins and I'm not sure if they are compatible with the connectors on the truck.

The link did work. Looks like that mirror has Park Lamps (Amber on the back - shines forward) and Cargo Lamps (White LEDs) shines rearward. Looks like this mirror doesn't have Turn Signals...

My DIY kit will have the wires with the pins pre-terminated.

If your mirror only have Park and Cargo, and no Turn Signals, I came make it custom for your needs.

Let me know!

Thanks!

I'm going to have a look at home. I just remembered today, I still have a complete front wiring harness for the 2016 Acadia I had. Goes from under the fuse box out to everything in the front, headlights, sensors etc. I might be able to find a few wires out of that to get the mod done. I'm just guessing that I will only need to run the wire for cargo lights and marker lights? So 2 wires? Plus re-pin the passenger mirror to adjust properly. If I can't find any of the connections with proper terminals then I'll have to order the DIY harness. I'm not worried about damaging the connectors on the Acadia harness since that vehicle is gone.

There is also a ground connection needed. Pin #5 on the 18-Pin connector needs to tap with Pin #11.

Ok thanks.

I'll go through the harness first to see if anything is useful. And if so, I'll go trough the info I can find and get it done. I have one of my good meters at home. Actually I have 2 good meters at home. Backup meter is always a good thing, lol.

It seems pretty straight forward. Hardest part might be getting some useful wires from the Acadia harness.

PM me anytime. Repinning is not hard. I'll provide you all the info needed to make this mod.

That's great. Once I have a look at the harness I'll get a hold of you.

Before I go ripping apart the Acadia harness, do I need the female ends or male or both? As you can see, I should be able to find enough wires to complete the mod.

Is it possible to upgrade a 2017 1500 WT without any power?

Also I'd like to upgrade to power windows. Not sure if anyone has done this before.

THanks

I have helped a local member that has a WT Truck, but he did have power windows and mirrors. He upgraded to DL3 Mirrors. I haven't worked with a member who has all manual/no power upgrade to power windows and mirrors. I think there might be a lot of work to get the power windows upgrade as there is some sort of programming needed on the window switch. I don't think there is programming needed for mirrors.

Thanks for the reply. I took the x500 connector off and i do not have 1,3,9,11, 41. There are also many other pins missing. At this point I wonder if I should try to find a replacement harness from the jamb to the bcm from a high country. Thoughts?

Are these pins missing from the cabin side (male pins) connector?

I don't know how difficult it would be with getting an entire cabin side harness installed. Those harnesses branch out many times once in the cabin.

I have a 2015 sierra SLE, I have checked and I do have all the pins I need. Now I am an electrician, but don't work with vehicles very much. How difficult is it to do the DIY wiring kit? Are the instructions pretty clear.

Instructions are pretty clear. Basically, remove the remove the harness, unwrap, insert wires, and rewrap, reinstall. There is (1) wire to cut and that's where the ground is spliced into.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Appreciate it, have wanted to do these for a while now and just don't wanna break the bank. Will probably be ordering the DIY kit here pretty soon.

    • I was around and remember that era very well, so I'm calling b/s on that statement. If they were that bad no police department or taxi company would've bought a single one ... but they were used in both services (and fire) for DECADES. They were bulletproof and proven. Even the early 21st century ones weren't too bad! The early models were legendary.   Mine is proof, but people like atlas are blinded by agenda and refuse to believe facts right before their very eyes.   Even decades after they were built, a new generation started driving them, posting all their builds and shenanigans on Grandmarq.net and Crownvic.net. The failures would show up then, since they all were deep past 100k-150k miles by that point, and younger drivers tend to be a little aggressive, especially with vehicles than can lay a one-tire fire for as long as you hold your foot in it. They've more than proven themselves over the decades.   The only thing that'll really take them out is road salt. The bodies and sheet metal were garbage. A victim of the cheapout FoMoCo and GM have been partaking in before then, and since.   Today it's the stuff that counts - the undercarriage that rots away first!    GMs Caprice was no slouch either. Reliable as a stone ax - the opposite of what they build now.
    • Let me know how your vehicles do in 10 years. You don't know ******, kid. 😂    There's a reason that Panther platform was used as police, fire, and taxi service for DECADES ... long before you were born, apparently.
    • If your connector also has a big lever to get the connector on and off, you don't want to force the lever either way, as it becomes a bigger problem if you bust the lever or the mechanism it works.
    • It's just useful to disconnect the battery to prevent odd shorting out when unplugging/plugging stuff together.  I also  touch the two cable ends together (after disonnecting) to drain the small amount of stored battery energy in various modules.   I believe the main system where you need to be more concerned with, so you need to do the above and then wait some time, iss when you are working on the air bag system, to prevent inadvertent firing of the air bags.   The in-cab switches are just that, plain switches, it's generally not a problem to swap them in/out.  For my '12, I'll get an error message on the dash if I power up the truck w them unplugged, but that's it (power up= turn the ignition on).   The ITBC located above the spare tire is a computer that manages the trailer brake system.  That is probably more important to have the battery disconnected.  It does have to be programmed to the truck, either before or after it's installed, for it to work.  For my '12, I had a very hard time reinstalling the main connector to it (IDK if yours is the same or not), it turned out the silicon seal was jamming up, preventing it from going on all the way.  I finally got it fully installed by lubing the seal with a bit of dielectric grease, then it slid on and latched in place easily.
    • JR ! I just got the truck back from the Dealership today . The technician did a cold remote start on the truck this morning and it made the noise . It was determined that it was a starter issue and replaced it under warranty . Of course   it did not make the sound after a new starter was put in because the truck was not cold . We will we see what happens tomorrow morning when I start the truck cold  . Keep tuned !   Oh I found a video on YouTube of a cold start and it did the same thing your truck and mine do , I will see if I can find it and post it up
