I ended up cutting the pink wire on the #13 slot. 

Works fine now. They’ll turn on at night as running clearance lights and front turning signals work now too.

 

still don’t know where the reduced steering message is coming from. Might just need a new bcm.

 

This is what I figured. So cutting pin 13, which is the turn signal slot should fix it. So your front and rear turn signals should work. You end up with no turn signals on the mirror right?

 

I don’t know why they tie them together in the mirror.

 

If you left pin 13 in, and cut pin 1, then the Amber light would function as a turn signal.

You are correct sir, all depends on what the user wants. I like the mirrors as a running light and cutting the pink wire or wire #13 gave the tow mirrors a running light option. 

 

Yes, if you cut the #1 wire it would function as a turning signal.

Hey Phil Gamboa. I was wondering if you know what size the terminals are in the door harness. I have a 2015 chevy silverado 1500 LT. The proper pins are in place its just a matter of adding the female terminals. I am looking at buying some to do this upgrade but cant figure out what size they are. You happen to have any idea? Mr Gamboa, I am wanting to upgrade my mirrors on my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500.  It is a crew cab, shortbed, 5.3 liter with the included towing package.  I currently have the DL8 mirrors and I would like to upgrade to the towing style.  I have several questions about some of the information regarding my pickup as is.  Not quite sure how to private message you.  I would also be happy to give you my office telephone number as well.

I haven’t done it, but it looks fairly easy. Hardest part is maybe sourcing the Puddle Lamp. Looks like you drill a hole, push the puddle in. You’d have to run the wiring but it seems doable.

Ya that's what I was thinking.  I wonder where we'd start to find the puddle lamps?  I have some tow mirrors now, they have heat and folding, but the only thing they didn't come with was the puddle that I wanted.  I couldn't pass up the price

If these do end up being plug and play please let me know. Saves lots of time, money, and energy being easy install rather than new adapters, harnesses, etc. 

Just installed them and it was pretty quick/simple and plug and play. Pretty happy with them for only $175. Haven’t driven yet to see if they shake at all. I did install the 4th stud. Couple pics of the mirrors installed on dirty truck.

Just wanted to thank you Phil for all your knowledge and info on this topic. Although I didn't purchase anything from you, this thread made me confortable enough and even susuccessful in swapping my DL8 mirrors for aftermarket tow mirrors. The new mirrors have heat, power adjust, cargo lights, and clearance lights that all work properly (with a little wiring for the lighting of course). Thanks again!
