Best way to get rid of the chrome

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm new to the forum, just wanted to thank everyone here for a great site!

I just got the Black 2017 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 1LT. I moved up from a Black 2015 Colorado Crew Cab Z71 and I NEED to get rid of the Chrome on the Silverado, unfortunately I could not get the midnight edition.

What is the best way to get rid of all that Chrome? I really don't want to plastidip but I don't want to spend a crap-ton of money either. What do you guys recommend?

Thanks in advance

If you like a rougher look I've seen some bedlined and it looks pretty cool (and rugged!)

Post a for trade post in the classifieds section and see if anyone wants to trade with you.

excuse the ignorance, but I'm guessing you mean trading the chrome parts for black parts...not the entire truck..lol...right?

I'm a complete newb when it comes to trucks and the lingo, what is "bedlined"? I tried googling it but as you can imagine, i got a lot of hits about bedliners, lol

Yeah you use bedliner to cover them... let me see if I can't find the thread on here where I saw some pictures...

Vinyl wrap it all. Should have a local shop that can do it. And you can peel it off later if you don't like it. You've seen lots of vehicles on the road that have advertising all over them; same thing but you'd pick a solid colour.

Yes lol, sorry for not being clear. A lot of people want the chrome too. As suggested, you can vinyl wrap your chrome items and peel it off later if you decide to go back to chrome. I wrapped my front and rear bumpers in gloss black and looks just as good.

Congratulations on your new truck and welcome to this forum! I agree that wrap is the most economical and least invasive option to achieve the look you want. However, I would suggest owning your truck "as is" for awhile. You may find that your ideas change once you start noticing trucks similar to yours!

I just replaced chrome pieces with OEM parts from the dealer and new take off parts on eBay.
