tires and rims from my 11 on to my 16

Got a 16 2500 back in Nov. kept my tires and rims from my 11 2500. Just curious if my tpms in my after market rims will work on my 16? What do i have to do to make truck "learn" they are on it? I remember having to hold the key fob or something on the 11 and it recognized the new tpms sensors. Any help would be great.

You need to find someone or a shop that has the tpms learn tool. They can reset thr sensors to your truck. On the DIC you set it to the tire pressure screen and press the select buttom on the steering wheel to set it in learn mode. Then the tool is put out beside the tire stem to teach the truck computer which tire is which. Most tire shops or repair gatages have this tool. Not sure if the sensors are the same between 2011 and 2016 though.

As an aside, if you're getting a second set or rims w/o the sensors (looking @ getting steel rims before next winter), do you have to go w/ GM sensors or are there aftermarket parts available?

The sensors may work. My '08 sensors wouldn't work with my '16 because the sensors changed around 2011.

Guess we see when/if this snow melts...lol I hope my sensors work. If not I just deal with the light on.
