Rust Proofing Spray

Does anyone have a rust proofing spray for the frame that will not take off the wax coating. Went with fluid film in a couple spots just to try it and yes like others have said it takes the factory coating right off if you touch it. Anyone have a product like fluid film that could be sprayed on the frame that won't hurt the factory coating?

I had the same experience with Fluid Film. Anyway, I ended up Ziebarting, no idea what itll be like in 10 years (so many mixed reviews) but I decided to roll the dice. Expensive initially but then free yearly touch ups long as you clean the frame of dirt before hand.

 

Not sure if you're interested in something like that. At least your frame will always be black and you don't gotta get under there and spray around on your own.

I'd like to hear about this as well. I've got a few spots where the coating has worn off, and there is surface rust visible.

 

I'd like to know what I can spray over it that will play nice with the GM coating. Should we just spray on the same stuff (NOX Rust 121-b,i believe), or should we go with Rustoleum or something?

Just use the same stuff GM uses it you only want to touch up. You can buy it in Amazon by the case.

The factory wax comes right off if you touch it regardless if it has fluid film on it. I had my arm jammed up against the frame and moved it while working under the truck. Took all of the factory wax off where my arm was.

AMSOIL's Heavy-Duty Metal Protector works well as an undercoat and to my knowledge will not remove the factory coating.

Get cans of the factory wax and touch it up. Daubert Chemicals Nox-Rust X-121B.

For the place where I accidently wiped it off with my arm, I'm thinking of sanding off the rust and then just coating it again with the GM wax. I was thinking of priming and painting it but I'm not sure how the paint would act around the edges where it meets the wax.

I'd just clean with water and spray over it. That's what most of the products recommend. They claim to stop rust. If you remove the access to oxygen by coating it well, it can't rust further.

I get all my personal vehicles done with Auto Armor rust preventative before I take a new vehicle home after buying.

 

Something to look at... Line-X now has frame coating products to protect underside of vehicles. Thinking about getting my next semi truck done with that.

I have used the Amsoil HDMP stuff frequently for my commercial trucks. I buy a case at a time. It is a very good product.

The Daubert Nox Rust x-121b, the stuff our frame is coated with, is about $30 shipped for one can. Anyone know if the dealerships sell the stuff?
