Usb stick help!

Ok I have a 2017 1500 custom with the 7" screen. I have tried a SanDisk ultra fit 3.0 32gb and a SanDisk ultra 3.0 32gb sub stick and can't get either usb1 or usb2 to light up as a selectable source. I have tried formatting both fat32 and ntfs and neither work. I have a few mp4 videos and mp3s. Any clue what I'm doing wrong?

I thought I read somewhere about it being USB 2.0.

Have you tried a different USB Drive that is 2.0 and not 3.0?

I didn't even think of that, I have not. But 3.0 is backwards compatible.

I've got some 2.0 and 3.0 drives. I need to try this. I tried with just movies and it didn't work. Then I realized that I read somewhere else on here that movie play back was depends on having a DVD or RSE system and I don't have either. Will try music only on a flash drive.

I just tried this. Used a 16GB USB 2.0 drive and a 256GB USB 3.0 drive.

Copied an iTunes album (.m4a format) to both drives. They both worked. The 256GB was initially formatted at ExFat and that didn't work, so Fat32 it went and worked. Didn't try movies as I expect that to not work since I don't have DVD or RSE.

Maybe try another drive?

Thanks for trying it out. What brand drives were those?

I'm confused here. The 2017's won't have an SD card reader and 2017's also won't play videos without an HMI unlock from MVI as GM removed it completely in 2017; whatcha got going on here? Do you have an SD Card to USB adapter you're using?

I messed up the title. I just have a usb stick. I put some mp3s on it and it won't show up. And if i click gallery it says plug in supported device.

It's the 7" 10b. I didn't know about the movie removal on th 17s. I ordered the backup camera and hmi module from infotainment yesterday. They said they can't unlock vim. Can anyone else activated rear camera and unlock vim? I'd rather do it in one shot and pay the least possible

No idea other than MVI as mentioned. But ya no video on USB drives unless you have the rear seat entertainment. Yukon's with RSE seem to have the best setup, not only do they play a buttload of different video formats and music, but they have an HDMI port as well.
