8" stock headunit + after market amp + subs, issue after half volu

so i installed an aftermarket Sound Stream amp in my 2014 sierra. it is currently powering 2 VFL8D4 subs. they are running of the factory 8" head unit. im using a line level converter that i bought from walmart (scoche) and spliced into the rear speakers. everything works great up until about half volume. it seems the head unit or factory audio system start to "degrade" the bass so not to blow the speakers, im guessing. so after half volume the bass just sounds like crap and the awesome sounding bass from the subs doesnt seem to get louder but crapy.

what are the work arounds so i can crank the radio and everything meshes. half volume isnt very loud.

i tried lowering the bass on the head unit and turning the amp up and it almost made it worse.

Yup can confirm processor will fix that. I have same set up. I use an lc7i dumped into a 5 channel alpine amp. Sounds amazing! Processors clean up the sound too.

What about having loud chimes

I went with the audio control lc2i for this issue. It works great and is high quality. They cost $100 or less. You can install a bass knob as well but I don't want it personally. After installing this unit I turned down my amp and it is louder than before.

Where exactly are you guys tapping into the rear speaker wires with the lc2i in the back like that? Just curious. I need to do this to mine this summer.

I got mine one Ebay for 4 dollars cheaper than Amazon :P

I usually link Crutchfield because they have a lot of info on their site.

I get employee discount(no, I don't work for them.. I know a guy, that knows a guy, that knows a guy.. )

Yes, I use Crutchfield for a lot of the info, then see who sells it cheaper(unless I need the 'extras' they throw in with the speakers/radio)

Just use some posi-tap to hook up the LC2i to the speaker wires you're tapping into.

I pulled the touchscreen trim and head unit off and tapped in there to the front speakers. Then I ran the wires through the dash to the passenger side to under the seat and into the rear cavity in my center console/jump seat, under the carpet every where possible. I tucked lc2i behind the panel on the bottom rear of the middle jump seat. There was just enough room , along with the dynamite I stuck on the metal under there.
