Dammit why didn't I think of this?

I have the Kooks header setup with the race cats and the flowmaster outlaw kit behind it (single in, dual out super 10)

Holy shit cold starts on that bitch wake everyone up, get a nice echo in the fields. And you better hold on past 1600 rpm because it sounds like your racing a vette. All on the 5.3, only wish I have the 6.3

At least you're getting some performance out of your setup. I doubt there's any gains from a muffler delete. The stock muffler isn't very restrictive.

I did the poor man exhaust mod, for less than $30 I'm happy with it for now. Not much sound but more than stock. I can at least hear the v8 when I'm accelerating. Steady speed it's quite. A bit of chopper/drone in v4 mostly at low speed but hardly notice it and I'm picky about odd sounds vibrations etc.

I keep calling different auto shops to ask if they'll cut just the muffler off my 2017 Silverado and just add a straight pipe where the muffler was and they're all telling me I'll mess up the back pressure and make the truck run poor? I read on all of these posts tho that people have been doing this and it's sounding good!! Can anyone please confirm what the result is if I just cut the muffler off, add pipe where muffler went, leave the v4 valve and leave the resonator? Thanks

Sound quality is in the ears of the beholder, I went with muffler delete sound was just fine. The resonator is a muffler more akin to a glass pack. The cats deaden the sound too. People want to spend lots of money on mail order exhaust fine, I was happy with my 40$ delete.

I did muffler delete on my 14, no problem. I can't believe a muffler shop turns down making money for exhaust work.

ok, I'm having it done tomorrow $50 and I'll report back with what I find!! If I don't like it, they said they'll reinstall it back

Have put 2,000+ miles on mine since deleting the OEM muffler and flapper and adding the Flowmaster 50 big block muffler. Have been on trips empty and towing and under all conditions really liking it. So if just deleting the muffler proves too loud - try an aftermarket muffler of your choice.
