XM radio works without subscription

I am in no way complaining. Or even trying to troubleshoot the reason why it's still working but it is. When I bought the truck brand new in '14, it had the free trial obviously and I believe it was 3 months free at the time. So pretty much 3 months to the day from purchase, free XM radio was no longer, which I was fine with. But one day I accidentally tuned to XM and magically all the channels were there. It's been over 3yrs now and it's still working. I don't get promotions in the mail, I don't get emails from them trying to lure me into a subscription. Nothing. So I'm just curious if anyone else is experiencing the same thing and if so, how long have you been rocking out to free XM?

My buddy had a '15 VW TDI wagon that did the something.. He had free XM Until VW bought it back:)

My previous truck had free XM full access for just over 4 years before it was turned off. I even received a letter every year thanking me for renewing.

Still getting free XM on my 15 HD. A few months back I had them turn it off & transfer it over to my 05 Tahoe. No extra charges for 2 vehicles, no word from them, not complaining.

I'm just gonna say, if this was a ploy to get me to subscribe to it when they finally shut it off, their plan worked lol. I haven't listened to FM radio in 3 years and I haven't missed it. I'm just so used to having XM that I can't NOT have it...You win Sirius lol

The XM units receive the signal regardless. They send out a signal that the xm unit would receive to shut it down or block access to the stations.

They either didn't send the signal or the XM unit in the Truck has an issue and is not receiving it.

Lucky but never let them know they will most definitely try to BACK bill you.
