Another CAI topic...

Ok, so I have been reading just about every topic known to man on this, I have decided to go in one direction. I plan on going with a Airaid MIT, with a stock filter, BUT, what do i do with the stock filter box? If the "magic" is in the box, what can be done to improve it? I have seen some talk about it, but , have not posted detailed info.

the reason for going with just the MIT instead of the full kit is because the tube is the same across the board with Airaid, so it seems no difference. The stock filter seems to clean better than other types of filters out there (post factual information, not opinions if I am wrong). That would leave me with the design of the stock filter box. If you have proof of what you have done to change your stock filter box (i.e. cut holes, and so on), and shown improvements, please post them.

Dyno testing would be the best for proof. Black Bear has done testing with several different types and configurations, this is the main source I am going by for my reasoning....

ETA: I forgot to mention, I already have a Black Bear tune for 93octane as well...

Look at Blackbears test results on the CAI. I was under the impression that the MIT tube did not do all that much for the newer trucks.

I mentioned that before, it only shows about 2hp gain. You would need the whole system to get the bigger gains...

I also contacted Jarrad at Black Bear yesterday, he's pushing the complete Airaid over just the tube as well...

are you doing this for more power or intake noise? a couple hp is hardly worth the money its going to cost unless you just want it to make more noise.

More hp, and as little noise as possible at city, and cruising speeds. WOT is going to be what it is...

So I have just confirmed from a very good source, that has done dyno testing on the CAI units, that for the Airaid systems, it gets down to the air box and tube, just as I have figured all along. The filter does not have hardly any to very little impact on the testing. I wish Airaid sold a box that accept a filter in the shape of a stock 6.2...

Does anyone have data on the GM Performance CAI for our trucks?

I've had the Airaid MIT on my last 3 trucks and for the money you can't beat it.

If I was to spend money on a CAI to actually gain HP, I'd go with the Momentum GT Pro5 R.

I've used CAI on several trucks in the past and some vehicles came with them, never had problems with their filters. Most were wet, no problems if you followed the instructions. K&N the most, even used their wet drop ins same no problems.
