17s or 18s??

So after a long debate and thinking things over, when my current tires are shot I have decided to ditch the stock 20s and go to a smaller rim due to comfort. Looking to see what your recommendations are. Either size I look at for the run I want a 33x12 or so tire. Just looking for opinions.

I would look up and see which rim size has the most tire selections. I personally like as much sidewall as I could get, but if you put 2 tires of the same exact height side by side (1 for a 17" and 1 for an 18") the 17" tire only has a 1/2" more sidewall so that's not enough to just get a 17" over an 18" for more sidewall. Other than comfort I like a lot of sidewall for off-road capability. I know I've seen low pros in the mud, but sidewall allows for deflating if you need to while low pros don't. Helps a lot for the beach, not just rock climbing lol.

Well I won't be doing much off roading with it lol. It's only a 2wd. It's basically a street queen. I just want a little more added comfort for the ride.

I found 17s have more tire size options. I chose 33x12.50s but next time around I'm gonna run 315s, just a tad smaller than 35s. I just love the small wheel-big tire combo. Heck, I would've gone with 15s if they fit.

If your truck is basically a "street queen" I would consider keeping your current rims and spending extra on premium tires. You can fit a tire with a pretty healthy sidewall on a stock truck with 20" rims!

18s. I think you can do 33x12.5x18

Would be very similar to what I'm trying to do a 275/70/18, just about 1.7" wider though.

17's will make your 33" tires appear bigger. My buddies 1500 Denali rides awful compared to my 2500...22"wheels. I'm happy with my stock 17's and you can find OEM sets cheap online from guys buyin aftermarket wheels

I use 17s with 35" tires and love to look, but i wish i had 18s so i could fit a big brake kit...i havent measured yet but it will be a tight fit if they fit in 17s

I went with 17s 285/70 Or 33x11.5 I love the way my setup turned out. Either way 285/70R17 or 285/65R18 will look good I just like the extra tire more then the extra wheel and the price on wheels is easier on the wallet.

My truck came with 18" wheels. I was able to run 33x12.50 tires on stock wheels without any level/lift. Then I wanted to stop better and added Wilwood 14.25" front brakes. I don't think 17" wheels will clear the brakes.

Curiosity got the best of me, so does anyone know if the 17s from the canyon all terrains option work with our trucks? Might be a dumb question, but I just don't know due to weight of different vehicles etc.

The pattern is different. Still 6 lug but I think they're 6x120 and the full size 6 lug are 6x139.7 mm (6x5.5").
