guess the turbo diesel helps ... My gasser with 35in tires gets half that on the highway

Nice! so that's were the 8K sticker in difference is from gas to turbo diesel. My gasser is around 17 empty down hill with 19k on it, but still love mine too.

Just don't work mine hard enough to have gotten the diesel.

Love the DMAX'S I just spoke with a guy and his 2017 is not getting the great MPG's like his older one which was 2014 I think.......The city really took a beating on his MPG's

I love the little hood scoop on the new ones. I came really close to picking a HD truck but the stiff suspension and maintenance for the diesel swayed me back to reality LOL.

Ya the higher regular maintenance for a diesel is the reason I don't see the need for me to even consider unless I needed it, not just want. I wouldn't mind a 3/4 ton gasser though.

Maintenance cost really isn't that much different when you average it over 100,000 miles.

If you are going to spend 60 to 70k on a vehicle the maintenance cost is really just a drop in the bucket. I say spend as much as you can as quickly as you can before the current government administration crashes the economy into a black hole.

Now for the bad news,,,,,I have found a scratch on my new 17 1500 so my love affair is over (kind of like a woman that you are really impressed with and THEN you find out she has hammer toes BAM done) I might just go get me a diesel HD in a few days since I like the hood scoop.....are there any special edition units where I can spend a lot extra on one of these things? like maybe a Rocky ridge or Black OPs or something

Good thing I would never spend nearly that much on a truck, even a diesel. I sure don't feel like I need the top of the line trims. I was completely fine with my '14 LT with cloth seats. It had what I would want and didn't have anything I would hate. I have no personal experience with diesels, but all I read is how the maintenance is more and it's enough for me to not buy a diesel just for the hell of it. Then you take in account of a diesel just costing more in the purchase of the truck itself. I know i'ts not as bad on used, but brand new it's easily $8K more. I personally would only justify the extra maintenance if I needed a diesel which I highly doubt I will ever need one so if I ever bought a 3/4 ton or bigger it will be a gasser.

I have never really taken my truck on an empty long trip. Pretty good range for sure!!! Glad to know I can go empty for a distance.
