New truck differences

Two quick things - went from an 2014 sle to a 2016 slt, and the difference is night and day. The 2016 is tighter and more controlled, sounds waaaay better (less whine), better throttle response, and the 8 speed transmission shifts so smoothly compared to the old 6 speed! So happy with the difference!

Forgot one thing - the transition from V4 and V8 is totally unnoticeable! No lag or anything.

Someone in here made the comment that these trucks are a piece of art, and I agree. This truck, with the headlights and grill, is beautiful.

Glad you like the new truck. I was keeping up with your problems with the old one, happy to see you and the dealership worked things out.

A smart move -

Always better trading in and spending a few bucks for something that pleases you rather than living with the headaches of the old one.

Note: This .02 advice applies only to vehicles, not wives. Always better off keeping the old one rather than trade, because all you accomplish is putting up with same $hit with the replacement that you never would have tolerated from the original.

TIghter and more controlled? It is a 2 year newer truck, I would hope so.

I guess anything is "art", shoot people spill paint on some paper and call it art! Cars like the Jaguar E-type, Mercedes 300 SL, Aston Martin DB4, Bugatti Atlantic and '36 Ford Roadster "Impression" by Foose are art, not a pick up truck regardless of how much I like it. To each their own...

I went from a 2014 SLT to a 2017 SLE and I also find the AFM system works much better. No perceivable noise/shudder and it seems to spend a lot more time in V4 than it did before.

I also barely notice the transition between V4 and V8 but it seems to be a hot topic here to mod

Seems like a good argument for leasing. Put a couple of years and miles on, trade up to a newer model. More expensive in the long run though...

Oh and I will agree for everything except the smoothness of the 8spd. It's something I can deal with because I enjoy driving it so much though.

The 8speed is the only I've ever owned so no real comparison, but what is not smooth about it? Mine seems to be pretty smooth.

Mine (as well as a lot of others based on # of threads) is pretty clunky at low speeds. Mine clunks when putting into drive or reverse right after startup and if I am slowing down then gas it (red light turns green) I can get a hesitation and big jerk.

Never had any real issues, it just isn't smooth like my Titans was. I also upgraded from a bare bones truck to an SLT so I know what you are talking about though!
