Rear Differential Cover Gasket $40 Help

And your question is?

$4 one works for me. All I've ever used, no leaks. Or RTV alone can be used very successfully.

Show me a $4 gasket for my truck. :happysad:

Bolt hole and ring gear determine gasket. What do you have? Always can use RTV also if $26 is your only option for gasket and you don't wanna pay it

That $26 gasket is reusable.

Are you sure you need one? I thought GM went to reusable rubber-over-steel gaskets?

Thanks guys.

I looked online before going to an auto store. Confused me. Only 10 bolt gasket was expensive.

It's 25 miles to auto store so I want a new gasket if I need it when I do the diff. fluid. I went into town to get one and the gear lube and they quoted $40 for the gasket and they would have to order it.

I'm with txab, my other older trucks I used the simple Fel Pro $4-$5 gasket. They told me there isn't one for my truck.

RTV silicone is an option, I'd rather have a gasket. :happysad:

Perhaps on your next topic, you'll give more info and good question in your opening post. It will get you an answer much quicker. :)

The gasket is re-usable. Before realizing this, we purchased a Fel-Pro from Amazon for $5.09 and it was delivered in 2 days. Re-used the original and kept this one for a spare. All we did with the original was wipe it down and put it back up, no RTV of any kind.

GM has been using that 10-Bolt rear for many decades; they certainly aren't rare.

Same bolt pattern as my 93 1500 2 wheel? :happysad:

I don't know about yours but my '09s pattern and cover was the same as my 1980s Buick's. I read that the only change has been an increase in the ring gear size from 8.5 to 8.625.
