Weather Tech vs GM Mud Flaps

Go for the OEMs.  Do yourself a favor on the fronts though.  Don't use the stupid rivnut/nutsert thing they give you in the hardware pack for the front guards.  Drill a few small pilot holes, go pick up some #8 or #10 by 3/4" black trim screws from the auto store, and self tap those into your pilot holes to secure the fronts.  The rivnut requires a large hole, a special tool and is a bit more of a PITA. I like the GM OEM front and rear flaps. They look great!

 

I did NOT order the special tool for the front flaps. I drilled hole a bit smaller and gently tapped the nut in with hammer and some silicone around outside of nut. Flaps have been fine for the 1 year since I put them on.

Are the weather techs wider than the OEMs? My 2018 Denali came with Factory 22's with 285/50/R22 Nitto Ridge Grabbers and noticing the OEM's dont do a great job of preventing crap from being thrown down the side of the truck. It wouldn't take something a little wider to catch it all so I'm looking for a  slightly wider option if there is one.

I do enough dirt roading that I wanted/needed flaps (I chose weather techs and really like them) but I don't do enough off-roading to justify a more expensive option...if I did, I would have went with the Duraflaps.  they have a pretty solid design that helps shed dirt/water on the back side with grooves...
