I guess you're down to changing the oil. If that doesn't work then take it back to the dealer and make use of that new car warranty. Hopefully they give you a loner.
math_10silverado Posted December 27, 2017 Author Posted December 27, 2017 the oil as been change a month ago... im at the dealer today... no chek engine but atleast the issue will be put on my record so if the problem comeback im safe
Bxnanaz Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 Make sure you wipe the dipstick really good then check the oil in these trucks. I’ve noticed oil somehow gets trapped in the tube and it registers way overfilled. -Pull the dipstick -wipe it good -wait ~30 seconds -put the dipstick back in a check it.
math_10silverado Posted December 27, 2017 Author Posted December 27, 2017 i love it when the dude at the service desk think you know nothing in mecanic when he oubviously know less then you... when i ask him about the oil level he told me i did not know how to chek it properly that i was probably looking at it after a ride without wiping the dipstick..... sooo they didn chek the oil but its not my problem anymore the truck is waranty so if something go wrong its there fault
FL335i Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 There is a TSB out there. I have it saved to my computer if you need it. Originally our trucks called for 8.5qts. Now it's 8.0 Qts. Check it after 15 minutes or more of it sitting on level ground.
math_10silverado Posted January 2, 2018 Author Posted January 2, 2018 it will be nice to have it thanks... ill look at it
jvanwinkle2 Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Let us know if you get a resolution. My truck is doing a similar thing. I pulled into a parking spot and it started idling like it was going to stall then died. Started up and did the same thing. Tonight I drove it home and it was fine. Going to dig into it more tomorrow. Very odd.
davester Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 I check both sides of the dipstick, just for the case where sometimes oil gets smeared or registers higher on the "right" side.
Obscenejesster Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 I personally think GM sets the idle to low on these trucks. They do it to burn less fuel and to apease the EPA. The idle should be 600 RPM's rather than 490 RPM's.Try using 93 octane fuel and see if it helps. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk
math_10silverado Posted January 2, 2018 Author Posted January 2, 2018 i am using 93 octane gaz... shell v power... sometime it almost feal like its the fuel pump that struggle
Wintersun Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 I would put the transmission in Range Select and not Drive mode as this disables the Auto Stop function. Put the trans in the highest gear and it will then drive as normal only without the Auto Stop going on. See if this fixes your problem. The only downside is that when not in Drive the automatic engine grade braking is also disabled. Tow Haul mode works with the transmission in Range Select as well as in Drive so no change with its operation. The Traverse takes 87 octane regular unleaded gas. No reason to waste money on a higher octane fuel. Important to stay away completely from ethanol opr E85 which is poor fuel choice for any vehicle as it provides 25% less power for the engine.
jvanwinkle2 Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 My catch can was frozen. I'm hoping that was causing my truck to stall in park. Being -15 this week did not help with the holidays and not being driven as much. Trying to thaw it our completely but already have gotten some out of it. My oil level is fine, new battery. Only other thing I could think of is alternator going out but doesn't fully make sense due to issues.

jvanwinkle2 Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 I did a small 5 minute drive and put it in my garage. Put a hair dryer on it for 15 minutes and filled half a bottle as well. Mainly water. Hopefully that was my issue. It would only die when in park before.
