Chevrolet will show off its new 4500HD and 5500HD diesel work trucks at the Indianapolis Work Truck Show in early March. Chevy didn’t offer much in the way of a preview today but did confirm that the trucks will be powered by Duramax Diesel engines with Allison transmissions.

Ed Peper, U.S. vice president, General Motors Fleet released this statement:

“The Silverado 4500HD/5500HD trucks are the flagship of our full-line commercial truck portfolio and we’ve designed them to be among the best in the industry in maneuverability, serviceability, visibility, quietness and comfort, diesel fuel economy and more. At GM Fleet, we are determined to deliver on our three pillars: Great Products, Innovative Business Solutions and an Exceptional Customer Experience, and I’m confident that with these new trucks, we’ll exceed the expectations of not only our fleet customers but the drivers and upfitters as well.”

And if you're wondering to yourself what this truck might look like...here you go. Chevy's digital media team didn't try hard enough to mask that photo.

Ya know, for not calling them Kodiak and Topkick, they sure seem as big as them but with a Silverado cab this time instead of an Express Van style setup.  These are gonna be overbuild for their class for sure LOL just like the old twins.

Good to see GM back into this segment. The Duramax Allison is a proven combo. If they got as good a chassis Ford Super Duty got themselves some serious competition.

How are you able to see the axel?  I’d be interested to see the specs.  How much can it tow, hitch weight, etc.

We won't see any more specs for a few months

GM had been selling medium duty trucks from a European manufacturer. Who will build these?
