Fox 2.0's and Rear Shocks -- My Experience

I will start this off by saying that I expected too much; and perhaps that is why I sit where I am now.

Here are the specs of the vehicle;

2015 Silverado Crew Cab

4WD LTZ Z71

18" Method NV Wheels

BFG T/A KO2 275/70R18

Measurements (all taken with same tire size)

Stock Ranchero Shocks + 2" Motofab Leveling Block

Front 39-3/8"

Rear 39-3/4"

Fox 2.0 Coilovers and Fox Rear Shocks

Front 37-1/4"

Rear 39"

Stock height of the truck

Front 36-1/4"

Rear 38-11/16"

All measurements taken 2-3 months after installation.

I lost 2-1/8" of height in the front and 3/4" of height in the rear from the Motofab leveling block and stock shocks.

I gained 1" in the front and and little over 1" in the rear.

I paid 4 Wheel Parts $1475 to purchase and install these shocks.

My opinion;

  1. It wasn't worth the $1475 sticker price.
  2. I felt a difference in shock response at first, but now I can't tell the two apart. I drove for about 6 months on the Ranchero's.
  3. I'm considering an actual lift from someone else.
  4. I won't do this again.

I understand everything settle--but this loss seems quite extreme. Fox informed me on the phones the shocks come shipped with 2" of lift which should have taken me to 38-1/4" and that I should have loss no more than .5" after they settled.

4WP Jacksonville FL doesn't care -- they want me to pay $480 to take them off, tweak up the load, raise truck, and re-align. Their response was "it looks fine. we can crank it down but it'll cost money."

Unless I'm an idiot -- it seems to me that I had better height with stock shocks and spacers. For $1475 sticker price--I could have lifted the truck 3.5" inches with a Rough Country lift.

Leveling kits or any other mods that affect Suspension geometry will affect the ride.

I got tired of driving a crappy riding truck with leveling kits and decided to maintain stock ride height on my bilstein 5100s setting and install 3" Lift Spindles

Its a 2WD Truck

Also removed the front sway bar

Rides really good and im happy

That's great; ride quality wasn't the thing I was after. It was just a better setup for height lift -- however based on my previous post I was better off keeping what I had or putting in a true lift.

The 2.0's are a joke in my opinion -- I don't feel like I got $1475 worth out of it.

Bilstein 5100s with a good quality lift may be a better option

Hell a 3.5" RC lift with front/rear shocks at $795 sound like a better option. LOL

I shouldn't have been surprised when 4WP didn't really care when I walked in the door and told them the issue.

Ranchero???    That's a Ford product, that's probably why you don't like it on your GM!

LOL, I mean Rancho shocks.

Any current pics of the truck?

I can take one tomorrow. Right now she’s on my inclined drive way so it doesn’t really give you a great overview of setup.

I updated original post with photos that I had.

I took a photo of the fox height from the same parking space in my parking garage at work.

Wow, I have the same setup with the Fox 2.0 and haven’t measured them lately to check. Never had the level kit though. My problem with Fox is they squeak creak like an old mattress...

Not thrilled with the support from Fox either.

They do ride better than stock but not worth it. Should have just went with King or dealt with the level kit.

Wait, Arent the 2.0 Height Adjustable?

Here is what I have heard.

Fox: they come shipped with 2" of lift out the box. If you adjust them they can possibly cause the spring to bind.

4 Wheel Parts: we can adjust them but it will cost you $475 because we will need to take them off truck, adjust them, then re-align the truck.

I’m in Jax too and had mine installed at Sun Tire on Racetrack Rd. Definitely recommend them and was only 200 with the alignment. Going back there when I have to replace the top hats (nylon vs the aluminum ones I have)

Thanks for the pics.  I'm having difficultly understanding why the shocks need to come off in order to be adjusted.  I have a lot of experience with coilovers on cars, and the whole purpose is to be able to adjust height.  In this case, I don't see why you couldn't jack up the truck, take the load off the side you are adjusting, and turn that collar up to the desired increase in height you're looking for....?  You would still need an alignment, once you get your settled/desired height achieved, and IMO, it would be worth a shot before spending $475 to have someone else take them off, adjust, align, only to MAYBE get the height you want.
