Why,do you have to take them off to adjust them?  You shouldn't have to do that

Read the start of my thread.

4WP told me it would be required to fix my coilovers since they installed them at stock height and not lift height.

@Nasty is correct in theory with coilovers they don't require to be removed to be adjusted, because the way the collars act as jam nuts to lock in the height. But the design that the Fox 2.0's coilovers use to lock in the adjustment require for pressure to be removed from the collar in order to tighten the lock screw to it's proper torque. If the pressure is left on the collar it doesn't allow for the proper torque needed to tighten the lock screw, and can result in the collar coming loose. Below is an example of what can happen, it happened to a user on this forum.

I picked up the truck and all is back to normal! I'm 39" high all the way around; tried to find a flat level spot to take a photo but you get the idea.

I also snapped a photo of the coilover for anyone interested in how far up the collar is.

So what was the final setup for level all around? Coilovers at 2" or 2.5"? Any rear blocks or stock? Going to be looking to do this with some uniball ucas

Just coilovers up front and rear 2.0 shocks in back -- everything else is stock.

It's 39" all the way around with 275/75/18 -- however those tires are almost done for so I'll be replacing them soon. Figure somewhere around 40" should expect with brand new tires.

Either way; 39" is helluva lot better than it was stock.

What height are the coilovers at?

Fox 2.0 are very similar to any other coilovers. I wish I saw this sooner I could have saved you some aggrivation. They weren't adjusted right at installation. Oh well. Also you can probably adjust then on the truck pretty easy with some spring compressors.

How is the ride?

So I’m doing UCAs from Dirt King here soon and either CST (non resi), king 2.5s with the adjuster or fox 2.5s with the DSC. From my research Camburg, Cognito, CST and DK are all top of the line UCAs as long as you get he uniball uca. Stay away from the bolt in ball joint. While they’re better than stock uniball gives best ride.

My question to you you guys who know coilovers Ian it worth the extra money to go with the coilovers with adjusters?

What are you going to be using the truck for? If you're not Offroad 50% of the time at least (fire roads and back roads don't count), then no compression adjusters are a waste

Why not use CSTs arms since they have a covered uniball?

Thanks for the pics.  I'm having difficultly understanding why the shocks need to come off in order to be adjusted.  I have a lot of experience with coilovers on cars, and the whole purpose is to be able to adjust height.  In this case, I don't see why you couldn't jack up the truck, take the load off the side you are adjusting, and turn that collar up to the desired increase in height you're looking for....?  You would still need an alignment, once you get your settled/desired height achieved, and IMO, it would be worth a shot before spending $475 to have someone else take them off, adjust, align, only to MAYBE get the height you want.

I’ve had tons of coilovers as well. You definitely do not need to take them off. That would be the dumbest design ever.

Edit: Ok I just read the difficulty of doing them while on the truck. That is so stupid of fox. What on earth were they thinking. The only way to get the correct height is to guess with the shock off, install, and then hope it’s the right height. What a terrible design considering there are hundreds of adjustable coilovers out there that don’t need to do this.

Yep; Fox and 4 Wheel Parts said the same thing. 4 Wheel Parts wanted to charge me another $500 onto of $1400/1500 I spent on installation. My fault was not verifying height when I left. I also didn't tell them to make sure it was at lift height because I thought they were smart enough to realize they were removing a 2" lift block to put these in and that was whole reason I bought the damn things. I learned my lessons; don't go to them and make sure you tell someone what you want.

I went to Extreme and they took care of me. It cost me $244 and they did it with them on the truck by merely lifting the truck and take weight off the coilovers. My truck is now sitting where it used to be. I'm happy as hell.

I'm still annoyed that 4WP didn't seem to care and when I asked them why they didn't use their head--they just looked at me.

Lesson learned!

I'm actually talking to Extreme right now I am considering putting a RC 3.5" lift on it and turning the coilovers back to stock height. I'd like to shove some aggressive 33's in there and still keep my 7' height clearance so I can get into the garage. I'm not interested in 5/6/7" lifts and 35's.

Truck is mainly a dd occasional dirt/shell rock road with many bumps and tiny potholes.

Truck will also be getting a long travel kit soon so that’s why I’m going dirt king UCAs.

As for the the coilovers I got a price of $1350 for the Fox coilovers w/ resi & DSC. The standard fox 2.5 are like $1250. And as much as I want to spend the least as possible I’m staying away from Sway Away cause I’ve heard they’re catered more to the off road racing as are icons. The kings w/ adjusters are $1590.

Those are pretty good prices, where are you buying? A dirt king UCA won't do you any good if you're putting in an LT kit soon, you'll have to replace them with longer ones once you get the kit.

If I were you I would just keep it stock for now and save up for the LT kit to put it on sooner. No sense in wasting money on an intermediate kit.
