Don’t water heaters have an annode that serves a sacrificial role to the unstoppable electrolysis?  Isn’t that the majority of the sediment at the bottom of the water heater?

Quit trying to ruin my explanation with facts!  ;-)   The bulk of the sediment in today's systems is  likely from this "sacrificial lamb".   When galvanized metal pipes were used for supply lines they were the culprit.  My point was in support of the OP for changing the coolant in your vehicle on a regular basis.  This tends to an ignored area for many of us and is actually sound preventative maintenance.

Heck, I don’t have many facts to offer on this forum...I get excited when I think I have one...

 

Now, opinions are an entirely different matter.  Takeaway:   Flush our radiators before the manual says we have to!

Just had mine done Thursday at the dealership. I didn't want to hassle with getting rid of the old coolant. 2013 Sierra with 65K, figured it was time.

Thermostat came early!  It is definitely a different part # than what my '14 originally came with.  Did the Tstat and Coolant tank today.  Topped it off, good to go for 3yrs/50k.

I got the new thermostat when I got my passenger side head replaced and the best part they didn't even say anything to me about it. I found out they replaced it after I went back and looked at the work order. Thanks for the info I will probably flush mine when I change all the other fluids just to be safe.

Pics...  The thermostat was clean, housing was clean.  Everything looked clean except the plastic fantastic tank.  Not only did it have build-up, but the plastic turned yellow.  The tanks when new are WHITE/see-through plastic.  I think the tanks are basically a 'serviceable item'.  Becuase the Cap went bad also, i was loosing coolant and couldn't find the leak... it was the cap.

Since, reading this thread. I have 58K on my 2014. I bought it used from the dealership at 40k. 
Gonna try to get it changed and looked at. Whats a good recommened coolant/anti-freeze to use besides Dexcool? Just Peak or Prestone? Since, Dexcool is orange, thought it has to be the same color back in? I know some owners manuals, states that so I thats why I'm asking the question.

      Because single shot injectors are ancient and multi hole injectors provide smoother running engines and sharper throttle response due to the fuel being atomized better..the best lead I have is a 24lb blue top injector almost everything matches up but the injector will put out about 26lb/hr which is just outside the gm threshold.figured id ask here to see if there was an absolute answer

      Why is my question?   Any change in injectors requires a tune. Unless you are going back with the OEM part number or a newer part number of that same injector.   Any size difference or type difference like the EV6 style injectors all have different injector data for them. And there is no EV6 injector that matches the factory 25 lb/hr size that your truck comes with. I've been messing with these trucks and tuning them for a long time and what you trying to do doesn't exactly make sense to me.

      My 6.6 gas lt8 had lifter noise with 28000 miles bought new 2026 and while driven to dealer it threw #1 rod bearing “HD my ass” good luck with yours i hope it don’t turn a rod bearing!

      Thought it was raining this morning when we woke. Nope. Dew point was over 80 F and humidity 98%. Zero visibility distance. Everything was 'sweating'. I've seen rain come out of clouds but never out of Pepper or the tree trunks.    Wicked storms just missed us sliding off to the east but by blocks. Heat index about 110 F with air temp in the 90's.    This is  our third wave this month of multiple days of this type of weather. And yet the grass is going dormant and the ground is cracking this side of the street and water up the the hood opposite. Just weird stuff going on.
