I sure your right on the V4 it was discussed on here before I believe with the W/Ts it doesn’t show it on the screen in the dash because the instrument panel is different on them. 

I see that on the chevy website now looking at the Custom.  I have been out of the loop on what GM offers these days since I haven't been in the market for a new truck.  I also don't see many people ordering this when you can have more options in a different package for about the same amount of money.

I haven't heard of no v4 for the Custom? If my memory serves me correct I think I've seen a v6 WT with v4 mode? WT trim is below Custom right?

It's a totally separate trim level, it goes wt to custom, then lt. Shows no v4 on the dash... dealer claimed it doesn't have variable cylinders... wonder if there's truth behind This? And yeah 4x4 is in the floor... I love manual 4 wheel engagement.

So the truck may have AFM but no display indicating when it is in V4 mode?  This could be upsetting to those who love to hate AFM!

Possibly,  I don't ever hear anything that sounds like a 4 cylinder though... may be wrong.

Don't worry, most of us don't.  We only know AFM is active when we see a little green V4 indicator appear on our dash.

Can anyone verify if it says afm on your window sticker? Maybe I could compare that with mine. The dealer claimed afm wasn't an option on wt or custom trim trucks.

Silverado custom doesn't come with v4 . It's a trim too low to have it,  starts on It and up. 
Mine is a custom and I have both V4 and V8 modes

You have to change a dash display to where it shows your average mile per gallon then it'll show you when it changes from V4 to V8 or V8 to V4

Came out 42,450 in a 4x4 crew cab 5.3l I got all the features I wanted... premium suspension (looks like a slight lift from what I can tell), comfort package, no cylinder deactivation on this truck, and 4x4 manually in the floor.  It has some giant 20" chrome wheels which I feel like I'll sell later... otherwise I love it. So far avg mpg is 18.

Yeah so happens EVERY 5.3 has afm. I just scrolled through my display with the trip button and seen it. V8 v4. The dealership told me this truck didn't have afm... I'm texting the salesman now, wonder how they will handle This? I told him I honestly wouldn't have bought the truck at all if I knew it had afm. After reading about it I didn't want it to have that feature at all due to prior issues.

Yeah it's seamless, but I've read horror stories about it. Backed out of a z71 deal and got the custom trim because the dealer told me the custom didn't have it.
