Street truck tires

Just bought a new set of Cragar 397 wheels for my 07 Sierra Classic. 17 inch wheels. Looking for recommendations on what tires to get. The truck is lowered 2 in the front, 3 in the rear. I ran stock size tires on it and had no issues, so I'm gonna stick with the 245/75r17 size or something close to it, not bigger though. But I want a street/sport tire. Do not want all terrain  tires or anything offroad style. This truck is specifically for cruising the streets. I've searched for tires but I can't find really anything I like. Anyone have an recommendations as to what tires would be good or where to look? Not super picky on tire brand either. Just something along those lines and not super expensive either.

I would recommend going to a used tire shop. Ask them to hook you up with a cheap set of lo-pros. They don't even have to match exactly on size or brand, because you will never use your 4x4. Your just rolling around on flat pavement, so don't waste $600 on rubber bands. Just get something will hold air. Its a truck, so corning don't count.

Whaaaaaat???  Rubber bands? My truck has 18's stock and not even close to being low profile.... Why would anyone put POS used mismatched tires on a vehicle they're going to bet their life on driving on the highway??

Maybe try a good tire dealer - I don't know if they could recommend a car tire that would have an appropriate load range or not.. What about SUV tires? I gotta think that there are some big ole full size cars that tip the scales at as much as a full size truck does???

OR - go to Les Schwab and buy the most expensive set of premium race tires that money can buy. Is that better ? Sheesh.

Go up to the more popular 265-70-17, it was used on the GMT800s too.  Michelin Defender LTX, there's all kinds of option in that size but the Michelin is tops for a highway tire with long life and excellent performance.

Started with firestone destinations in the 01 burb (4wd) and 04 Sierra, that came with them when new. The burb blew through a set each year. Eventually switched to Michelin LTX when the boys were old enough to drive, and they ran absolutely great, full mileage achieved.

I drive the truck, and ran one set of LTX's. Got tired of the high price. Shopped around, and landed on Cooper Discoverer HTP from Discount. They run as well as the LTX'S in rain, hwy and minor dirt. Switched the heavy burb over to HTP's and found they run the full mileage as well - at 15-25% less than LTX's

I have about 40k miles on cooper all terrain tires (can't remember their cool letter designation... ATP maybe) and I've been really impressed, they're good tires...
