Decided to change the cabin filter to a K&N Cabin Filter as I just hit 20K and this is what I found...

I just put a K&N cabin filter in my Cruze.  Just be prepared for an odd smell.

Only 20k on that filter?  Man, looks like you have some varmints living in there.

Does the K&N have the charcoal activated medium?

No, but for the cost, in just two years, I'm ahead of the game in savings taking the K&N out and cleaning and putting back in over buying throw away filters.

Are there charcoal activated filters available for our trucks?  It's always nice to not have to smell the poorly tuned vehicle in front of me

Can you tell my based on what change interval for the use and toss types? I've been changing my on 20 K intervals and think that could still be to long. Maybe I should revisit the K & N if the economy in my case is there. Your experience would be a help in that direction.

Well here in eastern NC, it seems a year is just about long enough. With all the tree pollen we get in the spring and road dust from all the farms. The cabin filter in our vehicles gets pretty dirty.  I guess it depends on your area.  My wife puts 20k on her vehicle a year but my Cruze only sees 15 and my 02 Silverado see's 10 if that.  They all seem to have a nice collection in the cabin filter when I take them out on  a yearly time frame.

I pop mine out every oil change just to vacuum it out. I just hit 34000 miles and changed it just because it's been in since new.
