Why did this GMC 2500 catch fire?

Well we aren't lying sooo. and who cares if its modded? my truck is completely tuned deleted everything. it wasn't an insurance scam not sure what the big deal is.

Why was it missing the door handle? The truck "shouldn't" have been locked if everything works as it should. Key in vehicle, doors shouldn't stay locked

They took the time to rip the door handle off? If the truck is locked, ripping the door handle off wont help at all. If my truck was revving like that, I would have it shut down within 30 seconds- one way or another. I still say that having someone plug the exhaust pipe, while someone else shoots the window out is the way to go. OK, maybe not everyone has a loaded .45 on them at all times - but a backup .380 would work just the same. Might not be as fashionable, but it will still work.

It’s ridicules to assume it’s an insurance job. It’s easy to see with the improvements on the truck and how nice it looked they will lose money on a insurance pay out. As far as door locking with key in the ignition it happen to me with an 01 and 04 GMC when I accidentally hit the lock button climbing out the door. I learned to roll down the window if I was going to leave it running.

I thought if you lock the doors with the key in, the driver side will automatically unlock when you go to close the door. How is it possible to get locked out?

Im pretty sure a tire iron or wheel wrench wouldve 'opened' the vehicle.

There are a lot of things that would have broke the window but you got to use what you have access to, which is going to be the first thing you see that 'might' do the job.

 

When your truck is on fire you don't have the luxury to think about it and  come up with perfect solution.
