Problem with Day Time running lights

I have a 2007 GMC 2500 HD Classic body style, I changed over all my lights to new housings for headlights, turn signals and tail lights. I’m running led lights in the front housings and the tail lights are a full led tail light.

when I went to put LED bulbs in my day time runnng lights I noticed that inside the connector was burnt a bit, put the new bulbs in and nothing. So I thought the connectors were messed up. Replaced them with new ones and still nothing. I never have front daytime running lights but I’ll have my day time running lights in the rear tail lights, but even then sometimes I won’t have those and if I restart the truck I get them back.

I checked all the fuses and they are all good, I don’t have any power going to the daytime running lights. I know sometimes they can be tricky with the light sensor. Anyone have this problem?

When I replaced my DRL sockets and bulbs I found out that they would not come on unless the Transmission Gear selector was in Drive and the key on. The engine does not need to be running. If you haven't yet tried that, I would.

Did you try putting the bulbs in the reverse of the original? Plug them in, if they don’t work. Take them out. Spin them 180° and then put them back in.

Hey thanks for the reply! I tired this and nothing, tried to turn my knob to the marker light setting and the turn signals stay lit up the outside bulbs but not the inside bulbs, I’m not sure why my daytime running lights don’t come on I’ll have to dig into this deeper

Yeah usually I know if leds don’t work to flip them around to change the polarities, I tried, thanks though!

No I haven’t figured it out yet!

So some days I start my truck and it won’t have tail lights, even when I turn the switch, but if I turn off the truck and restart it I have tail lights?

I'm having the same issue with my DRL's not working. Swapped out the bulbs, fuse, and relay and still couldn't get them to kick on. I just learned today from another forum member about the gear selector needing to be in "drive" for DRL's to turn on. I've been testing them while it's been in my driveway so it's been in "park". I'll have to go find a reflective window somewhere and see if they're on when in "drive". I've never had an issue with my taillights not working though (that I know of).

Yeah, level surface, put on the parking brake, with the engine off, switch gear lever to drive and the DRL lights should be on.

I actually bought replacement DRL lights twice (and returned them) thinking they didn't work and forgetting the truck needs to be drive for them to come on.

Just left work for lunch and found a reflective window... Sure enough, mine are working now! It could have just been needing the new bulbs the whole time and replacing the fuse and relay were an unnecessary step? What a simple thing to not know about when troubleshooting, make sure it's in gear and not in "park" . I also read that the parking brake cannot be engaged, must be in gear and no parking brake for the DRL's to come on.
