Possible Ford defector - few questions

Hi everyone, I'm contemplating my first Chevy purchase, I've always been a Ford guy.  I have a chance to purchase a 2018 F150 FX4 5.0 MSRP of 46k for 32.5, but I have my eyes on this new Silverado, and I just can't seem to make the 2 hour drive to buy the Ford. I really like this new Silverado, more than any in recent history.

Question is, when will the lower end units start arriving on the lots?  It's seems like most I've seen are 50k plus.

I'm wanting a Custom Trail Boss with the 5.3 that should have a MSRP of under 45k.  Or a low end LT 5.3 4x4.

I wonder if a dealer will let me special order without putting anything down?  I have always been leary of special ordering.  If a car/truck comes in with a ding, body flaw I sure as heck will not accept it.  A dealer repair is almost always never as good as factory.

Possible Ford defector - few questions

"Step right up, come on in
If you'd like to take the grand tour...…….."

Through my research so far, I have not seen any Custom packages on the lots yet but they are coming.

Most popular configurations for GM are Crew Cab Short box in either LT, LTZ or High Country Trims. With 2019 add Trail Boss to the mix.

So these are out now on lots.

Unfortunately since they are a new redesign, I doubt you can even touch a Custom Trail Boss (basic version) for anything less than 40-45k

Of course without a trade in or cash down.

Search cars.com   you will find what you are looking for price range wise in an LT Crew Cab.

I do not blame you on special ordering site unseen unless you can find a dealer who will work with you if they can just throw it on the lot if you are not satisfied.

Here is an example for just under $45k  It is an LT Crew cab.

Hopefully we look to have you as a new GM member of the family!

So right now its only LT Trail Boss.  I think the Custom trim will start production in a bit.  Your dealer should be able to order one as you can do the build and price on gmfamilyfirst.com right now for a Custom TrailBoss  Also, crew cabs are first produced, you can order double cab but they don't start for another month or so.

What do you consider a "deal" ?

They (some are already discounted 5-6k)

The above truck i posted has a 5k discount off sticker.

Yes, it will be longer before 9-10k discounts are offered.

I'm a Chevy guy for life but the 2018 5.0/10 speed combo is awesome.

The deal on that FX4 is dang good IMO.  Would definitely make the trip if that is what you like.  Before going though I would double check pricing, discounts, trade in value, (if applicable) interest rate, ADM, extras added, (if applicable) etc...   Don't want you to drive 100-150 miles only to be disappointed in the end.  Have them email you a purchase order with final price once you are done haggling via phone/email.  Consider getting financing arranged through a credit union or outside financial institution.  Keep in mind that low $32.5K price probably applies if you finance with whoever the dealer chooses.  Do your homework and don't get taken for a sucker.

As far as larger discounts on 2019 Silverado 1500s don't expect any deals until Memorial Day give/take a bit.  If the new T1s are selling like hotcakes than don't expect much off.  I suspect people may get sticker shock and hold out for larger discounts.  As others mentioned high volume Chevrolet and GMC dealers are already knocking 5-6K off new 2019 T1 trucks.  However the MSRP for the trucks are 60K+.

It is a good deal, and I do like the truck, but I have had so many new Ford's I'm kind of getting the been there done that vibe.  If I get that truck, it'll be my 4th car with the 5.0 engine, while a good engine, I just want something different haha.

I hope the Custom Trail Boss goes into production soon.

Get what you like by all means.  Custom Trail Boss will be a while before they are available.  Chevrolet and GMC have decided to roll out higher profit trims first, High Country/LTZ/Trail Boss LT/RST/LT/Denali/SLT/AT4 before building lower trim trucks.

That looks like a great price. If Fords not messing with any kind of cylinder deactivation on the 5.0 it would be hard for me to pass up.
