Sean, I have the exact same truck as you...2015 Sierra SLT and I'm having the exact issue you had with your radio in your video above. I have researched this for several months now. I was told it was a faulty touch screen, a bad circuit board, HMI unit going bad, etc, etc. I hated to spend big bucks chasing this issue. I recently purchased a complete dash cluster from a totaled 2016 Denali for $170. Installed it and it worked great...for 2-3 hours, then the same issue began again. So it took $170 to determine it's not the touch screen and not the circuit board it plugs into. Now I'm wondering if its the HMI unit under the glove box, but those are $700! I hate bring it to the dealer 'cause I know I'd get shafted. I got a quote for an aftermarket system and that's $800+! I believe I'll do the Dealer because if it doesn't work then, they have to figure it out.

I replaced the radio and and it’s worked fine ever since.  They said it was an internal short in the radio control unit.

When you guys say radio, are you referring to the actual radio module behind the touchscreen? You can buy them used for like $75. You can also buy a nav equipped hmi for $350, which is about average. The radio module and hmi both need to be reprogrammed with your vin.

They replaced the whole unit, touchscreen included

Ok. Because they are 2 separate parts. The touchscreen and the radio module. Its not a whole unit. But I know what you mean.

My 2014 silverado has been doing the same thing for the better part of 10 months.  The dealership told me that they have had at least 3 other vehicles with similar issues.  They are telling me that the radio controller is the issue.  We will see if them replacing the radio fixes the issue.

Did your dealership replace the radio?  Did it fix the problem?

Would you mind sharing which dealership you're referencing?  I'm sitting at a dealership right now, and I'm waiting for the inevitable "There is no problem here, can't help you".  Even though I have videos like the rest of y'all.

So I have a 2015 2500HD 8” touchscreen, has been changing channels for a while on its own, switching from Bluetooth to XM then voice commands without a word being spoken. instrument cluster would change as well I would change it back to speedometer or MPG and it would change when the touchscreen changed. I scoured the web for solutions. Tried the ground posts under the windshield/A pillars. It seemed to glitch less but after a few trips glitches only once in about 2 hours total driving time which was an improvement. However, the touchscreen has always been problematic and unresponsive at times so I decided to get one off eBay out of a wrecked truck and low and behold the touchscreen works with every touch, unlike the last year. I swapped it in my drive way in about 15 min. Didn’t need to have it relearned at the dealership as some have stated and once again just the touchscreen module. So I’m going to drive it for a while and see if this is the fix if not HMI it is. Side note HMIs seem to be GM compatible across different models and are more so year/package specific. Hope this helps anyone that is having this issue.

I have had the same issues (touch screen changes randomly from the radio screen and would randomly put calls on hold as well as the DIC switching to the audio display) in my 2015 Sierra SLE that I bought in October.  Infuriating!  After reading this and other postings on the internet I took the plunge and bought a used touch screen on eBay for $160 and installed it.  It has yet to do it again after 8 hours of driving (knock on wood).  With the old screen it would start flipping about within 15 minutes or less of starting.  I am cautiously calling it fixed.

My old touch screen was not very sensitive and required a lot of force and multiple taps to get it to respond.  The new screen is a lot better in this regard as well.

I have a 2015 Silverado 3500HD DRW High Country with 38,000 miles and very similar issues. The icons on the InfoCenter randomly move all around the screen and then the screen goes into edit mode. The icons move all around and end up on 3-4 tabs, I push the home button and it goes to home screen but in a very short time it will start doing the same thing. Also the clock will randomly load to full screen but most of the time the touch points will not be responsive when these issues occur. This past weekend when I was playing Pandora the screen went from the Pandora screen with the current song details to my Pandora favorite channels menu. The DIC at the instrument cluster now also started jumping to different screens. If I set the DIC to the digital speedometer randomly it will flip to the current Pandora song information. I reset the DIC and in a few seconds the same issue occurs. I took the truck to my local dealer in 11/2019 and they did a software update. I thought this resolved the issue for about 2 weeks but now the issues are more constant than ever. I see several posts with ground issues to replacing the touch screen to replacing the entire radio.

Can anyone give me some feedback as to what corrected your issue and how long since your issue was resolved. I am looking for something more than a few months as I don't want to pay for multiple repairs until the dealer figures out the issue at my expense. After seeing multiple posts with similar issues I took my pickup to the dealer 2 month ago but surprisingly no one at the dealership was aware of any of the issues I had even when I showed them pictures and videos.

Update explanation of the issues.

I don’t know what happened but mine stopped doing all that for last month and a half and is working like it should. Only thing that has changed is I don’t have the weather and xm subscription anymore. Hard to believe if it was the touchscreen going bad that it would fix itself. I will update this again if it starts acting up.

My 2016 Silverado has the same issues. Unfortunately it is out of warranty. If I pull out the yellow radio fuse in the fuse box by the passenger door for a couple minutes it will be fine for a couple weeks. Then I do it again etc. I am going to wire an inline fuse and switch so I can easily disconnect it. I have heard it is a ground problem but the ground lug is under the dashboard on the drivers side. Why couldn't I just ground it to a more easily accessible area?

Thanks for the feedback Dem chevy and Jim C. Since my original post in early January I replaced the HMI module and the radio module to the upgraded 2016 modules that includes Apple Car Play and Android Auto that I purchased online from MVI. The first two times I drove the pickup after I did the upgrade the icons on the InfoCenter went into edit mode but they did not move around. I contacted Anthony at MVI and he suggested I clean the connections on the back of the LCD display. I removed the display assembly from the dash and disassembled so I had access to the back of the LCD display and the circuit board on the back of the display. I sprayed some Deoxit deoxidizer on a wood stick cotton swab and cleaned both ends of all 3 ribbon cables. I also cleaned the connecters that these ribbon cables attach to. I reassembled the assembly and reinstalled on the dash. It has been 3 weeks since I cleaned the cables and connectors and the LCD display has been working normal. I will update if I have any more issues.
