I purchased a used dashboard from a junkyard 2014-18 are the same I would prob mount hud switch below light switch where lower panel and dash meet. No room for above location if you have 4wd

I just haven't had the time to figure out the wiring and or the install of the HUD unit. It looks like you have already started modifying the dash? I believe the current windshield would work if you have the lane departure warning stuff, as there is currently a row of red lights that display on my glass if someone slams on their brakes in front of me. I also had WAMS program for hud. I see WAMS responded in another thread that some guys with trucks have done hud conversion. I have searched the net extensively but can’t find any detailed info on installing in a Sierra or Silverado. Edited September 10, 2018 by 2009GMC
JADSCOOP Posted September 10, 2018 Author Posted September 10, 2018 I know in another post on this forum. A guy with a Yukon installed one. Let me know if you find the post with it installed in a Silverado/Serria I have been doing a little home work. I come across this wire diagram of the HUD/SWITCH/INSTRUMENT/FUSE BLOCK/GROUND wiring 1
Sierra1969 Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 I’m doing this to my Sierra too. The Denali cluster is programmed (including HUD) and I have a switch. Will I be able to use the projector already in my truck? I have collision alert)

To make this work you need: (As I understand reading this thread) - Denali cluster with HUD unlocked (programming by WAMS) - 2? custom cables to connect cluster to HUD & connect switch to HUD. - HUD Display 23474646 ; 22812172 ; 23321030 - HUD Switch + Custom mounting - Modify (Cut) your dash to fit HUD * I found these part numbers searching the net. Try at your own risk ;-)
Sierra1969 Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 Ok, I need the cables. I see that will be the hardest thing to get. Thanks for the part numbers on the HUD. It will be a long process but I’ll get it eventually. Thanks again.✌?
cmatt Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Looking good. Are you merging a truck and suv cluster visor?Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

He’s got a thread going. pgamboa is now making a custom harness for this. I can give you the individual part info if you want to do all the crimping, connector assembly, etc. yourself, but it would prob be easier to grab his that’s ready to go. He also includes the usb cable that will connect between the cluster and HUD. Here’s some exploded views of how it sits in the suv dash. You can see the mounting points on the dash support bar. BlkSS is checking with the Chevrolet dealership in his area to see if the Yukon/ Tahoe/Suburban or Escalade windshields would work in a Silverado/Serria. The dealerships in my area are not that willing to help with technical information. I guess they are worried about liability risk? I don’t know if it will fit in the trucks. The angles of the suv vs. truck windshields are different. Here’s the HUD windshield (p/n 23508429) I just put in my Yukon thanks to a rock chip. My original non-HUD windshield p/n is 23508428. cmatt Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Here’s the pin-outs for the connectors. HUD unit USB between the HUD and cluster. HUD switch HUD schematics Here’s what the harness I made looks like. I used acdelco pigtails as that was all I could find when I did this. I’ve since found the individual connectors/terminals. 2018GMC Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 curious about the 2019 HUD unit in the new T1XX Trucks. Maybe it is smaller and a small chance in hell it will fit in the existing dash area where the warning LEDS are?
TJay74 Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 Angle of the windshield will have no bearing on if the HUD will work, otherwise the cars with it wouldnt work either. What matters is the coating the HUD as to project against so that you can see it.
John Barboni Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 Has anyone checked to see if the 2019 Sierra cluster visor with factory hud will fit a 2015-2018 Sierra? this would make the retrofit much nicer...
Luis A. Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 @JADSCOOPhow was the final outcome on your project?
