The CVT is an acquired taste. The adaptive learning takes awhile but is on the money at 7,500 miles. I love it but it will not be most others cuppa tea. 78 flywheel horsepower in a 2,000 lb car is not lighting any fires in the hearts of the power greedy but is will do 60 mph all day, every day and pass what others cannot. A gas station. Even at 9 gallons capacity. Think 1960 VW Beetle power. EPA numbers are 35 city, 41 highway, 37 combine but I'm killing those numbers at 800 feet above sea level on the billiard tables of Illinois. Even at near zero F I'm clocking 10% over the EPA numbers. Summer, mid 50 mpg range. Several tanks over 60 mpg running 55 mph. I don't know your exact elevation but your a plane guy. It isn't helpful to power output. We have pretty long on ramps and I try to stay off the Interstate but it will get to safe speed plus 10 when asked to. But never think you will mat it to merge. You'll just become roadkill. :( I have no issue with this.

Did the 7,500 mile oil change today. I'm dropping better oil than most buy. :crackup:Checked blowby today via the oil fill cap. It wouldn't blow out a candle and hand over port only the slightest vacuum. Not enough over 30 seconds to make the main seal squeal. Best ring seal I've even gotten on any motor of any cylinder count. Compression pressure over 200 psi. Leak down under 5%. Top of the book. Must be my crappy break in method and over added too heavy oil. 😏

Does have some quirks. Apple car play is a pain to keep synchronized and the phone looses paring in dead zones that require a key cycle to clear. Programming the DIC is stone age. Heater is Killer good. Like Jeep heat good. Thanks to an electric resistance helper. Has a built in block heater area where a 400 watt heater can be added. On my to do list. CVT needs plenty of warm up when under 27F. a 100 watt pad heater would be kill'a. Weak hill decent braking. I drop into sport mode under 50 mph when I come in too hot. and it helps...allot. Jerky until the 'learn mode' is done but smooth as butter now. Learning to gauge your distance is beneficial. Heavy cross winds are NO FUN.

Worse part is a lack of aftermarket parts and greedy dealers that don't know their backsides from an outhouse ring. Still the day in day out sundries can be bought easy enough. Oil, all filters, plugs etc.

Full nose PPF and some Ceramic coating plus ceramic tint is on my must list. Low nose = rock chip city. Paint is not bird crap and tree sap friendly. Lots of greenhouse area.

Can't think of anything else unless you have questions. :dunno:

Great input.  Is it as snappy as the B210 Datsun from late 70’s?
She’s well versed with CVT having survived our 2018 Rogue which we loved in west Texas big bend area. Of course it was a 2.5 4 that really had perfect tuning with the JATCO I was testing.
What is the lowest recommended viscosity for the 3 cylinder? Run the Amsoil SS version of that to help the 1.2.
Change the CVT fluid to Nissan NS3 if it’s allowed and I think it is. I could not out formulate it. It’s that good. Flows extremely well in sub zero. Second option is Amsoil CVT.

REDLINE is gonna be too stable and viscous in cold there.
She’s leaving me for Lansing MI so it should function fine for her in town. However it might be colder there and that concerns me.
I’m so far gone now I’m gonna have to hire help through VA so I can stay up here in my home. I don’t want to be forced to a veterans home yet.
I sold my beloved perfectly maintained Trail Boss 2.7 to Carvana and bought a 2024 “used” 4524 mile Jeep Wrangler Sport S Hardtop at Greenville Chrysler Jeep in Texas and drove it home. 19.5 mpg outta that little thing with 3.6 Pentastar driving all night @ 80-85 mph on drugs and energy drinks. Found out they are bad for you but I don’t pee as much!
Got $9650 off sticker for it.
Thanks for the excellent input.

I wasn’t asked this isn’t a slight on anyone. We all know Grumpy doesn’t drive very aggressively. And probably could find good quality’s in a Yugo. But do yourself a big favor. Buy a certified pre owned Civic, Mazda3, etc. Volkswagen has sign and drive every December. Guess what’s coming off lease? Three year old sign and drive. The dealerships will be flush with lease returns. Unless you want the person to hate you don’t get that G-4. Can’t help it. I had to say something.

Well she is leaving me! lol

There’s a very nice veterans retirement home in the Gulfport Mississippi area. It’s a palace. If you get there while you’re still mobile they will care for you until the end. We did the tour. It’s just off of HWY 90. It’s was the best of them all. You definitely wouldn’t mind it at all.

Never drove a B210. :dunno:

Your other question.

0W20 in North America

5W30 most other sales regions.

UK manual states 0W20 to 20W50 weather dependent.

This guy [link below] does teardowns. He's a fleet mechanic in Canada. His stuff runs on Klondike 0W20 on OEM OCI's

I'm not repeating his results. 😉 But you can if you like,

I tried but....

Know why the Yugo had a rear window defroster?

 :dunno:

So your hands didn't freeze pushing that pile of junk.

I had a 1960 VW. It would top out at 55 mph. I had to park it on a hill sometimes the 6 volt system just wouldn’t be enough to start it. It was just before I bought my first truck a Toyota Hilux. Just after my wife got her license. So she could have the 68 impala at home. Luckily it was in NJ where the top speeds were 50 unless you got on the turnpike or garden state parkway at 55. The only mod I did on it was reversing the wheels. One day we had a rainout on the job. Four of us decided to go to NY. The guys talked me into drafting a tractor trailer so I could keep up. After awhile two lights came on the dash. All the sudden the back wheels lockup and then broke back loose. I pulled over adding an extra qt of oil. We turned around driving 50 miles back to our shop knocking all the way. I was so happy not to drive that miserable car again.

My first car was a 68 Impala custom.  It had the 225hp 327 with the turbo 400 trans. Sea Mist green with a black vinyl top.  It was a great car. I purchased it back in 1980 from the original owner with 77k miles on it.  He had records of oil changes every 3k miles using Quaker State Delux oil.  At high rpm's it would pop back up through the carb. Turns out it was a known issue with the cam lobes wearing. Sure enough, when I took it apart one of the lobes was really worn.  The inside of the engine was spotless. That is interesting because back then Quakerstate was bad mouthed for producing sludge. Not this engine.  I rebuilt it with a blue printed 300hp Crane cam.  I put another 100k on it and the lifters went. So I changed them out and put on a set of double hump 300hp heads.  Man did that boost the compression. From that time on I had to use 93 or it would ping. It was a great car but PA salt got to it and was rusting out underneath bad.  I just purchased my 65 Impala SS so I sold the 68.  Many good memories in that ride.

Very nice. Mine was a 307 power glide. I added a 4barrle and dual exhaust. Next was a 69 like yours. First few of many. I had 13 impalas some ss. The last was a 1994 ss. The rear drive impala was my favorite Chevy.

G4 isn't quite that bad.

Top speed is @ 100 mph. Will reach it in 110.5 seconds. 0 to 90 mph is 40.9 seconds 0-60 in 12.8.

Datsun B-210 1974 performance below link. Yes the G4 Mitsubishi is a bit quicker than even the 4 speed B210 😉

I’m very happy you like your car. I try to be clear that it’s my opinion. And with doing that offer alternatives. For instance when I had the CRV it was small for us as a trip vehicle. It was average in every way. So I traded a low mileage CRV touring edition to my daughter for a medium grade high mileage odyssey. I downgraded in options for larger, faster more suitable for traveling vehicle. I use the same mindset for car buying. CPO larger more comfortable better performing vehicle rather than settling for a new unsatisfying car just because it’s new. I have a semi lead foot. I pass with gusto. I drive just over the speed limit. The G-4 suites you, great. You even joke about it. So you know where I’m coming from.

I do 😉

However I do not consider this car a 'downgrade'. Not even a compromise. I bought it for a specific purpose which it executes better than anything I have access too. I find it a pure joy to drive.

Some guys retire and fish, some golf, some bowl. I drive for the joy of the drive. Speed is never a consideration nor is acceleration. At my chosen pace, comfort never enters into it. It doesn't make me do anything. Doesn't prevent me from doing anything I choose. It allows me to do everything I chose to do. Pretty sure it will outlive me. And stupid cheap too!  How cool is that?

We spoke about it and agree it’s a perfect car for her. We both came of age as drivers in late 60’s and loved the economy Japanese cars as an option for us living  in high interest couldn’t get a decent job time frame drivers in 80’s.

We’re all spoiled. 0-60 in 12.8 isn’t that damn slow. I had plenty of 80s and 90s trucks that couldn’t touch that. Ever drive a 6.5 diesel or a 2.2 S10? Even with a stick you can forget it.

I can’t even imagine. My slowest is 8.2 to 60 the avalanche. The fastest my wife’s Genesis low 5s. Even the odyssey is in the 7s to 60. Even though I lean more towards comfort than speed these days. Acceleration is a very close second.
