Park Brake Lever Adjustment

Where is this "self adjuster lock out pin" that's mentioned in the service manual?

The proceedure for adjusting the lever is as follows per the manual:

Verify that the self adjuster lock out pin has be removed.

Fully apply and release the park brake lever 3 times.

You got me, ive never read te manual and ive never read about any pin on this or any other forum.

Id be happy to hear where this pin is.

If in fact its all a hoax , youll have to do what others have done and remove your rear wheel and rotor to manually adjust the brake.

So that means SI 2002.14 is wrong and it doesn't exist?

Document #390161 from the manual.

I've already changed the park brake shoes and adjusted them. Read the subject line. I asked about adjusting the park brake lever itself, not the park brake shoes.

My guess is that the screwdriver mentioned below must be removed before pressing the pedal 3 times

"Disabling the Park Brake Cable Automatic Adjuster

Before any components of the parking brake system are serviced, the following procedure must be followed. Two technicians are required to perform this procedure: one inside the vehicle and one outside the vehicle.

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

Hold the pedal in the FULL upward position.

Pull rearward on the front park brake cable until the pedal drum (2) reaches its full reset position.

Insert a scribe or the shaft of a thin screwdriver (1) on an upward angle through the hole in the front of the pedal assembly, past the retracted pedal drum, and into the hole in the back of the pedal assembly (3).

Slowly release the cable.

Remove the component that requires service."

Thanks, asepgrad98. That sounds about right. Where did you find that? Did it have an illustration with it?
