G80 3.21/3.41 gear break

I cannot find separate part numbers for the 2014+ G80 carrier for the 3.08 vs 3.42 gear sets (only found GM 23156744). I HAVE found separate part numbers/items for the open differentials (3.21 and down & 3.42 and up) (22943115 & 22943116).

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the G80 a separate carrier than the standard stock open carriers?

Would a G80 equipped truck with 3.08 gears require the ring gear spacer to go to 3.42+ gears?

Yes that site is great. However I am not sure if their “tech article” addresses the G80 carrier vs the standard carrier, that’s if the G80 carrier has different specs. I emailed them my question as well. But thank you for the response.

Just to confirm, did you move the stock 308 gears over to the G80 (from a 2014-2018 donor) successfully?

i bought the g80 from gm and transfered my crown gear and side bearings over to the g80 and installed it. checked gear lash and tooth contact, which didnt change. i did this at 15k and i am now at 108k and no problems

why put that garbage back in there? there's trutrack, detroit, etc many other quality parts to replace it with.. the OEM G80 is goofy and a bit dangerous in certain conditions.

Go to the guys who supplied GM with your axles, DemandAAM.com They'll have a pdf for the complete unit and all the parts too. You have one of two 12-bolt Salisbury axles, a 9.5 or 9.76 if memory serves.
