Installing overhead DVD player for kids

Recommended Posts

So I’m looking at installing an alpine over head unit to hook up an Apple TV or something for the kids. I have the unit and a extension cable from alpine that looks factory for the hdmi and usb. Does anyone see any issues adding this in I will use the aux input for sound as well.

thanks for any advise or suggestions

I would do what I did.  Get the factory headrest tablet mounts with power on them and use tablets as screens which can then easily connect to Apple TV or other boxes via WiFi with the actual box being connected to the vehicle hotspot.  Other option would be get a wireless router with memory and load movies, etc. on them.

Get the factory tablet holder and a tablet, then they can take it with them. Built in stuff is a pain and rarely works for very long.

+1 for factory tablet holder +iPad (or tablet flavour of your preference)

Probably cheaper and much easier to use.

bonus points if you already own the iPad.

My wife's car has a drop down DVD player.  After using that on many trips, I'm going the ipad route.  The drop down is very distracting to me the driver, and the ipad is a larger screen.
