Can somebody explain why ko2 is so slippery in the rain with very little throttle straight line or cornering... stop and go.

Tires came with the truck plenty of tread left.

16 SLT, 4wd.

Worse tire in the WORLD...

I have KO2s on the 18" wheels and I haven't got any problems with traction in the rain.  They're not sticky road tires and I treat them like that, but compared to the SR-A pieces of $h!t that were on there originally, these are made of glue.

Those SR-As would slip if I even looked a the accelerator on a hill in the rain unless I used 4wd.  Stopping was no better.

I should add... I haven't driven them in cold weather yet.  My brother's in Nashville and said winter's upon you folks up there.  I get lots of rain down here in FL, but nothing cold yet.  We'll see how they do when I go NC this Christmas.  Good luck with yours though.

Thanks for knowledge,
I plan on changing tires @ the end of Jan.

Any recommendations on tires?
This is my 1st, 4wd truck.

They look sweet. I have them on all my trucks but will prob switch to a more highway tread on the 18 since the BFG K02 seem to grab any and all rocks and pebbles then eject them approaching highway speeds and I cringe when I hear a rock hit the side of my truck. I have mudflaps and my tires do not protrude beyond the fender.

I love how the K02 look but they are not known for high mileage, they are an off road tire after all but you see them on lots of pavement pounders including mine :-) until the occasional camping trip.

Depending on your usage, Nitto Ridge Grapplers or Toyo RT’s are exceptional tires and virtually indestructible with good all around and excellent mileage reviews. KO2’s look like sissy tires compared to these Ridge Grapplers b19444659b4d6459e7392d40abe64c2f.jpg

That's a good looking tire there.

Looks pricey.

My budget is $850, out the door.

Michelin Defender LTX M/S is the gold standard for on road tires.

I will take a look @ those Michelin I heard some good reviews about them.

Something isn't right.  I've had no problems at all with the AT KO2 in the rain.  What tires were on your truck before, and how long did you have them on there?

When it first rains after a long time without rain, it tends to be very slippery regardless of what tire you have.  So perhaps you experienced that phenomenon and thought it was a tire issue?

I’ve had KOs on all my trucks for a long time. There’re quite, last, and never had a flat even running on ROWs covered with mesquite trees that have been mowed.

Had KO2 on my last several vehicles (GM full size trucks and SUVs) and drove my current 2017 Silverado in freezing rain for 35 miles today on a set of 265/65R18 E load range All Terrain KO2s. I wouldn't be so quick to blame these tires but I will say Michelin is a great alternative if you don't like the added weight and noise but I doubt you'll notice much of any improvement in wet traction... anything is better than the stock SRAs... they made it a scary 111 miles on my truck last winter before I had an appointment to swap them out.

What air pressure are you running? What were the temps? How long had it been raining? I think there must be more to the story than the KO2s just not being good in the rain, I have well over 100k miles on them combined and I deal with some of mother natures most intense offerings.

38psi
47 degrees outside .
20 inch tires.

Taking off from a light /stop sign is the worse the rear of the truck will slide left or right on any given rain day.

Once it gets going it okay

You’re in good shape with any of these, the size is approximately 1” taller at 275/60/20 instead of your stock 275/55/20. Falken wild peaks are highly liked on these forums. Mine are the Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

Good morning brother you made my day.

Thank you for the knowledge, because I wasn't really sure about which tire to purchase you help make my selection a lot easier.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

The Wilson's. ..

    • I think the answer is it's a stock 5.7 Hemi with a 3.0L blower bolted onto it 😉   Practically, because a blower introduces a lot of high pressure, severe thermal stress, and extreme mechanical loads on an engine. Things still need a little time to seat and get used to moving under load.   Sarcastically, because it's a Stellantis/ 5.7 Hemi and those things need all the help they can get!!
    • It's been a little over three weeks since my second knee replacement.  I can now walk around the house without a walker or cane but still have a lot of healing ahead.  This morning I was able to bring a cup of coffee to my wife in bed.  A few days ago, this coffee would have ended up on the kitchen floor!  Knee replacement surgery is very common and will typically enhance the recipient's future quality of life. However, the recovery process can present significant challenges, pain and discomfort. I encourage anyone facing a recommended total knee replacement to welcome the opportunity.  Just be aware that your body may take several months to fully welcome the new parts!
    • The Germans basically didn't make the list. There aren't a lot of shade-tree mechanics who work on them in general. At some point the economic equation of keeping a car alive favors junking it. Anecdote/experience tells me this is the case versus actual bad engines/engineering. Not that there isn't any, but there are definitely notable excellent examples. The 2.0 diesels will go forever and ever if one keeps the car around it running. The 2.0 gas cars eventually wear out their turbos but the block below it is usually still solid as a rock. BMW inline 6's same thing. Mercedes diesels of yesteryear, not uncommon to see 250k out of those engines, easy.     Link to the synopsis of the study: https://www.iseecars.com/longest-lasting-cars-study
    • 0w20 is recommended in the Sequoia. 0w16 in the Highlander Hybrid.   I think you make a compelling case for both the quality and frequency of maintenance but I wouldn't go so far as to plot a linear relationship between longevity and oil weight 😉   The list is interesting and leaves me with some questions. The Silverado 1500 is 12.9% likely while the GMC Sierra 1500 is only 10.8% likely. Arguably, they're the same truck, so other factors must be influencing the outcome.   The Honda Odyssey ranks #12 at 13% likely. Great. Rest assured we'll never stop hearing about the dang thing LOL.   There's a bit of a spread between the 4Runner (32.9%) and Tacoma (25.3%). Both overlap on the same 4.0 for many years although the Tacoma used a 3.5 for the last 10-12ish. I wonder if that's related to use-case or if it's suggesting the 3.5 isn't quite as up to the task, or maybe something else fails mechanically.   Ram at 3.5% overall likely, but the Ram 3500 holds the top spot on the Heavy Duty Models at 39.7%. One might say the Cummins is a ringer and provides an unfair advantage. I don't think it's fair/accurate to pit the GM Fullsize 1500's in a list with HD's which are basically medium-duty wearing a 3500 badge.   The Tahoe and Suburban hold spots #15 and #8, respectively, on the longest lasting SUV's list. What's the difference? One's got a shorter butt, unless they're also counting the 2500/3500 Suburbans in those numbers.   The GMC Canyon gets a 1.4% increase over its twin brother Colorado. Why, because it's prettier?   SO many questions...
    • Have the aftermarket system removed an re-test.  Its pretty much the only way to know if there is still an issue that is the truck and not from that.
