Hesitation/stumble on acceleration

Ok, right? you have one unknown reading, fuel pressure,if high, rich, ecm can't compansate enough to correct, your temp should come up too, lean is hotter, and the map should drop a bit

I had to start over and read your fisrt post again. Are you still having the issue with the black smoke? If your still getting the black smoke it could very well be a fuel pressure relate issue.

Do you have aftermarket exhaust? Some people have had to change to a heated O2 sensor when they change it. I have had no issues with 1 wire on my exhaust.

No I don't. Just the one that came on the truck when I bought it. When I got I under the truck there was a good sized dent in the muffler but it doesn't have any brand names on it. I looked up the stock exhaust and they look similar.

And yes I have the black smoke still.

I really don't want to buy a fuel pressure gauge too lol. Between the mtimeter the vacuum tester and the aldl cable I'm up to like 200 dollars now. Is there a way to do it other than buy the tester and cut the fuel lines, flare them, and I still the tee for the fuel pressure? Mine doesn't have a test port on the tbi

What would cause the fuel pressure to be too high anyway? Too low I understand, but I can't think of anything that would increase fuel pressure other than the regulator which is brand new.

Not all are equal, restricted will raise it,so, another test, hold throttle at 2k rpm,up to temp. does 02 fluctuate?or still high?more air helps level out a rich condition, and do it with egr intact and vacuum line to it plugged, check for different readings

The longer it ran,the richer it got,02 stopped going below .45,I'm thinking faulty fuel pressure regulator, you could introduce a vacuum leak, like have brake booster hose just connected, then pull it off a little and watch 02 reading, see if it follows, dropping, that tells you it's not loosing its ability to follow

So I ran this test,

02 readings started bouncing around, going from around 300 to upper 500mv.

Map raised to 36-37 from 32.

So that test would show that down low on rpms there is excess fuel,at 2k rpms there is less flow needed thru return line, cause the motor is using more,so the sensitivity on regulator is comprised, and shame on them for no test port on tbi's

Ran this test also:

With vacuum to egr intact:

Raises to around 700, but fluctuates between 500 and 700. When I let off the gas it spikes to about 800 and then slowly drops to bouncing between 300 and 500.

With vacuum line to egr plugged:

Basically the same thing, only the truck isnt wanting to die the whole time.

So here's a dumb question. I'm not being sarcastic, but how is this related to the EGR valve kicking in at low rpm and trying to kill the truck?

Is it because there is excess fuel so the ecm thinks the truck is at a higher speed or something?

Well there is no Cel light anymore, after I switched out the egr it went away, and I got this new problem that we are working on now. But here are the two new videos

Sorry it might be hard to see its very bright out today

    • I was the GM of a Lincoln Mercury dealership back in the 80's. The service lot was always full with "broken" ones. Plenty of transmissions, power windows and a/c repairs. The only one I'd consider owning would be the Marauder at this point and it certainly wouldn't be a daily driver.  My 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate is my "Lincoln Town Car" in my retirement. I want all the "stuff". Big infotainment screens, one touch power windows, Supercruise (I won't buy another vehicle without it), hands free pretty much everything. I'm going to swap my current truck for a 2027 Yukon Denali Ultimate so I can have the air suspension and surround vision recording along with all the other "stuff".
    • Yep mine is on backorder also.
    • The Denali Ultimate's grille is tinted, but the "regular' Denali has a bright chrome grille like the current models.
    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
