Center Console Accessory for 2018 Silverado

Just purchased 2018 Silverado 1500 LS with the Jump Seat, really like to have a quality floor center console, with a similar design to the stock consoles- yet I only found console swaps as an option. I do not need additional out lets for USB etc, and dont want the expense or the trouble or wiring up a stock console just curious if there is an aftermarket that offers such  an item. I would estimate a couple hundred in the budget for this, any ideas would be appreciated.

Also,

Any opinions on the Bakflip MX4 vs a cost savings soft trifold? And opinions on Line x spray in liner vs a nice drop in plastic liner- I have concerns on appearance of the spray in liners after years of use- typically I will just be hauling yard and home maintenance items, lumber, bags of soil, and pine straw etc. And Mud Flap recommendations?

Thanks for any inputs you guys may have!

Congrats on the new truck.

My truck came with the spray in liner, i like it. but i also put in the bedrug, love it. especially the way it keeps debris from falling between the tailgate and bed. i also have the bakflip mx4. love it as well. seems pretty watertight so far and it's a breeze to open and close. also keeps an honest man out when the tailgate is locked.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Enthusiast, I like the Idea of the Bed Rug in addition to the Spray Liner- except when hauling something like pine straw!- Have you ever had to pull the Bed Rug out? If so Is that a simple task?

Still looking for any Center Console aftermarket Ideas that have similar function and design as the stock if anyone else can chime in please.

Fellow LA Silverado owner here. If you can stomach the cost of the factory console it's really an easy swap with Phil Gamboa's harness. All plug and play and everything works as it should. I took my time this go around and had the jump seat out and the console in in less than 2 hours. Both of the seats can stay bolted in place. I've got mine set up with the moveable cup holder and 2018 wireless charging module and it really is more convenient than the jump seat for me. I probably have about 50 pounds of "important" stuff in it !

My opinion is that it is really worth it. I had it in my 2016 Regular Cab and took it out when I traded it in on my 2018 Crew Cab. I really missed the console for the week I drove the 2018 Crew Cab without it.

I'd be willing to provide tools, help, and/or moral support if you decide to do the swap. You can't be that far from me.

Another must have for me is the Driver Assist handle. Worth all $50.00 to keep from grabbing the steering wheel getting in and out.

I am still trying to decide which way to go on the bed issue. Thinking about a tri-fold hard cover but can't decide which one. Too many choices....

LineX (probably most other popular brand spray liners as well) offer UV protection (lifetime warranty against fading for LineX) for a up charge. I did LineX with UV on my 015 when I bought it and I just did a cover last week (wasn’t sure if I ever would or not), mine is garaged but does sit out 10+ hours a day in the sun when I’m at work. Liner still looks as good as the day it was installed I have the Dee Zee tie downs that I installed the same week as the liner and are faded to hell. If your going to do the cover the same time as a liner I wouldn’t be to worried about fading down the road and if I would have I might not have paid the extra 100 for the UV but going 3 years without a cover going forward with my next truck(s) I’ll gladly pay for the UV protection even with a cover.

Once you’ve seen a bed that had a plastic liner in it for years that’s been removed you’ll never consider one especially if you live in the rust belt (looks like your south of that). They rub the paint off the floor “ribs” and trap dirt which traps moisture. IMO you’re better off with a thick quality rubber mat cause at least you can take it out once or twice a year and spray the floor & mat. This is what I have in my 01 3/4ton used the mat out of my 85 square body (mat is 20+ years old) and take a extra minute to strap whatever down. Bed looks better than most 2 year old trucks I see sitting on lots without any bed protection.

Enough, thanks for the info- I did see the install video from the guy that sells the plug and play harness, I have physical limitations with my hands not laying flat- Picture holding a tennis ball in your palm against a flat surface- that's as flat as my hands lay until I schedule surgery- So I would most likely have to pay for the install- this may wait unless I find a good console at a wreaking yard.- Also might go for the drivers assist handle- considering the damage I did to my previous 03 seat over the last 15 year.

Love to see a pic of your center console install when you have time- and yes- were close I'm in Mobile.

Thanks again for the info!

WF- All good points- I did have a rubber mat in my last bed and 15 yrs later when removed the original surface looks close to new, I thought a drop in might give the same results, but apparently not.

I guess I was concerned on the spray in texture not coming clean after heavy use- any thoughts on that?

Thanks,

Ski 2018, If you find a console and want to do the swap before surgery shoot me a PM. We can make it happen. I've gotten enough help from others on this forum it's time for me to pay it forward. It's really kind of a fun swap seeing the before and after. I've done mine twice now so yours would be a piece of cake !!  I work in Mobile close to I-65 off of Halls Mill Road so getting together wouldn't be a problem.

I'll shoot a couple of pictures of mine and send them to you in the next couple of days.

I've got a friend that had calcium deposits form in the palm of his hands close to where his fingers join. There is a name for it but I don't know what it is. He waited too long to do have the surgery done and now he is permanently disabled. It's easy for those of us that don't have these issues to tell you to go ahead and get it done. If you could see his hands I don't think you would hesitate to schedule surgery now. Best of luck with your hands, and the search for a console !!

"E" Thanks - well give me some time to look into costs, and if there might be any usable from a junkyard-and yeah 65 and Halls is real close-

My condition is called Dupetrans Contracture, unfortunately even after surgery it has a high recidivism rate

Lets see those pics- im curious now....

I had a drop in liner in my previous truck and now have a spray in factory liner that came with my 2015 Silverado.

The drop in is easier to slide things in and out, the factory spray in has a rough finish so items hold in position better.

it can be rough on the knees though.

I use my trucks to carry audio equipment and the spray in liner really can wear the finish on anything that it touches.

I added a BedRug to save my knees and the finish on the amps and speakers I transport.

With the drop in it was easy to push and slide stuff around in the bed, with the drop in and bed rug I have to climb in and lift things to move them.

For construction materials either liner approach would probably be OK,.

I like the look of the spray in liner, but I think the drop in was more appropriate for my use.

Also, there may be other spray in types that are not as rough as the factory one, but I am not familiar with any others.

Thanks Larry, I had concerns on the abrasive finish on my old knees- any issues keeping the bed rug clean- I fear hauling items like pine straw as it would not be fun to clean up the rug afterwords...

Thanks,

The LineX cleans up nice with a little scrubbing. I try to spray it out once a month at the car wash anyway, set things on it gently, strap things down I don’t want sliding around, put cardboard down if I have to climb around on it on my hands and knees (like when I installed the cover) or hauling something covered in rust or oil, ect. About like anything else in life if you take care of it... Only thing I found so far that sucks to clean off it is sand hauled 600# of “play” sand home in 50# bags from the home store and had a leaker tried sweeping it, tried the blow gun and air compressor, tried the spray wand, ended up using the 40 dollar Black&Decker blower vac (I had already) to suck it up I got 90% of what was left in less time than I wasted finding the extension cord to plug it in.
