Just saw your avatar. Are you running a diesel? If so ignore my post.

So here is someone you can contact. They should have the instructions for the 2019s by now.

I put a CC on my older 5.3 after I found out about the PVC issues on that motor. They have made changes but I would still run a CC and especially with a GDI engine. GM has a habit of using consumers for Beta testing. My truck was three years in to the new model production and still had major issues. Was not fully addressed till about 5 years in on the new model.

Yup I have a duramax. Best truck I’ve ever owned thus far. We ordered a at4 for our Daily as the duramax is just a little to much truck for when we go to the city, not to mention the regens and fuel consumption when in town. Our last 1500 has a 6.2 and it was a demo. It didn’t have a cc but after 15000km the intake looked like it was 5 years old. I want to make sure I have a cc on before I take delivery this time around.

I am not sure that there is a motor being made that could not benefit from a oil separation device installed on the PCV line.  Since diesels have been required to have closed CCV systems on them in 2007, all heavy diesels have PCV/CCV filtration units on them.  The Auto and Pickup OEM's are just a bunch of cheap morons and only worry about getting thru the warranty period and the customer be damned after that.

 

It is really surprising with the move by the OEM's to go to turbocharging on many of their gas engines that they do not have a PCV filtration system.  When the turbo spools up it can really draw a lot on the PCV system.  This is why many turbo gas systems get lots of crud buildup in the intercooler and intake.  

 

But even naturally aspirated engines can benefit.  Some more than others.  It is relatively inexpensive to install a good catch can on a engine that it seems funny that many will not consider it when they have no problem dropping thousands of dollars on eye candy and other nonsense for their pickups or cars.  To actually spend money on something that could help mitigate future problems?  God Forbid!

I've been reading and watching videos on this, and I am sold.  Now I just need to find the best/easiest to install.  I'm not particularly handy but looks easy enough.

As far as the engine features it mentions something about baffles and oil/air separation.  

 

Was wondering if this helps with the buildup in the intake.  

 

PCV-integrated rocker covers: new domed rocker covers house a patent-pending integrated positive crankcase ventilation system that enhances oil life, reduces oil consumption and reduces exhaust emissions. The domed sections of the covers contain baffles that separate oil and air from the crankcase gases, with about three times the oil/air separation capability of previous engines.

Yes, but the 2019 new body engines L82, L84 and L87 benefit from an improved rocker cover with integral separation over the L83 and L86 rocker covers with integral separation.

Well like I said I'm still sold on the idea.  Anyone know if the procedure is the same on the 2019 as the 2018?

 

Wondering if the hoses are in the same place.

I installed a oil catch can on my 2019 silverado LT 5.3L from JLT performance, and after a couple hundred miles I checked it and there was oil in the catch can, not much, but a little.  I'm sure after a couple thousand miles it will be full.

Does anyone have any more different brand catch can installation photos?  I'm finding a bunch of nothing online for the 5.3 T1's

    • 2017 Silverado L83 5.3l 6speed transmission Hello, not a new member but havent posted in a while and my old signup info isnt working so had to create a new account. anyways, I have an issue with my truck and hope someone can spread some light on whats happening: -when it goes to 4cyl mode it makes a clunk sound (but not when coasting or going downhill) -when in 4 cyl mode and under load it makes a load pulsating sound (not a tick). -goes away completely when in M5 gear or when plugging in an AFM delete. Im guessing it is one of 2 things but im not convinced of either to be honest. 1. lifter stuck in v8 mode 2. torque converter shudder realistically it doesn't seem like the TC as there is no physical vibration , and it never happens in v8 mode. but maybe? and wouldnt a lifter make a sound whether with load or not? any ideas let me know please. thank you!  
    • Which has made me wonder with the various engine failures of a few brands in the last few years, is it sub par materials such as lifters etc causing failures, or bearing clearances on the crank etc or perhaps bad designing of an engine physically or causing too much load on the components due to the hp/torque they can push out of them. Or is the oil viscosity and additive package of current oils or a lack of oil flow by an oil pump not able to supply sufficient oil at idle or under high load at low rpm. Or is it every item I listed that combined together has pushed the limits so far to the left that there is hardly a margin of safety left and add in some fuel dilution and too long of an OCI and premature engine failure is the result ?. 
    • He is not saying that an SAE *W20 will have more viscosity than a *W40 due to MORE VII polymers. He is saying that although multiple *W40 may post in the PDS the same or similar 100 C and 150 C viscosities that the blenders choice of modifier TYPE and AMOUNT to get his chosen base to grade will not give identical real world viscosities in shear and at temperature. All will pass the SII test but not all will pass the 100 C HTHS (unpublished value) testing the blender does and relies on to get the required by law "percentage improvement' referenced to his last great work.    Tis the problem with the lie.     • I have a `25, 1500 that auto sets on incline. Never knew that at first. I have the electronic shifter. Just think if it didn`t do that? Unlike a mechanical shift that you can muscle out of park, how would you get this thing out? That would be a problem.   What I found out later is, I don`t have to push the button to release. Just put it in gear.   Setting parameters? Don`t know if it`s possible.

I usually set the parking brake (habit) when on flat ground for typical driving.    When backed down on the launch ramp to launch the boat and I place gear selector into Park, the parking brake activates automatically. My second nature is to set parking brake manually and noticed I was turing the parking brake off.  The parking brake appears to be setting itself automatically.   I looked all over my owner's manual and only found references to being on an incline and manually setting parking brake, or at times parking brake will be auto engaged, but nothing specific to my situation.    When is the parking brake automatically engaged?  Under what specific circumstances?  Can the auto set parameters be changed?     I like the auto set feature.  It would be nice if always engaged when shifted into Park and released when shifted out of Park (like my wifes 2025 RAV4).   Thanks!
