Opinions on wheel spacers

Ok I’m new to the Chevy world and doing any type of mods to a truck so bear with me, I have a 2018 1500 Z71 and I put a 3” front and 2”rear lift/level kit, I put 33/12.50/20x9 with no offset. I have some rubbing on the spring and control arm and was curious to know what anyone thinks about adding spacers and if so what size and how much trimming?

When you say spring you mean rear leafs? Im paranoid so I get 1/2" any more than that I get nervous about the wheel stud to lug nuts.

Sorry I misspoke it’s the coils in the front, that’s where the rubbing is

I would rather do a bolt-on spacer(adapter), vs slip on 1/2"er.  I ran 1.5" on my Jeep Rubi and they took the offroad abuse.  Buy brand name, hub centric.

I believe a Good hub-centric Wheel spacer called Bora, I put 2 in spacers on my truck and have had good luck with them.

With the 2” did you have to trim anything in the front

I run 305/55/20’s with a 2.5” level and was also rubbing the control arm at full lock. I went with a set of 1.25” hub centric spacers. No more rub, just had to zip tie the wheel well liner. No issues with the spacers and they gave it a nice stance.

2” spacers have been ordered, so we shall see the end result this weekend

I probably would have gone with something smaller.  Your 20x9 with a 0 offset already stick out 1" more than stock 20x9 wheels (the ones with 2" spacers pictured above).  I would have tried a 1" instead, but then you would have to trim the ends of the studs so they dont touch the back of the wheel.  3" is a decent lift in the front and you may be OK, but proceed cautiously.

Mrfrye, I'm in the same boat. 20x9 with +1 offset fuel hostages on 285/55 20. I have a 3 inch front as well and was looking at spacers as my wheel don't poke out enough for me. I don't notice any rubbing but did you have to trim anything , cut anything?

It does rub with 2” spacers but only in the back of the wheel well, I’m going to NorCal trim it tonight I’ll take some pics tomorrow once it’s all done

Yes I'll like to to see that. Is the rub severe or just a bit. Curious if it would still rub with a 1.75

I like the wider stance, but when I did this on my last ATV, I started eating up wheel bearings and had to replace them twice a year.  I didn't use spacers, I got new rims with 2" offset, and that put a lot of stress on the wheel bearings and caused premature wear...

Is that a problem on these trucks?
