I have a new 2019 denali 4 door 6.2, it just turned 2,000 miles and it has a chirping noise under the hood at start up most of the time.It sounds like a belt making noise and lasts for about 30 to 45 seconds .Took it to the dealer and they are saying it is in the exhaust and that GM is stating that it is normal. I have owned a lot of vehicles over the years and never had one or heard of one thats supposed to chirp for a while when started. Anybody else notice this also

2019 high country 6.2L also same here and they said it’s normal.

Had this for a while, same as others. Seems to be only affecting the 6.2 with 10 speed. I'm almost certain at this point the chirping is coming from the 10-speed. Try this test, when you cold start it, put it in drive right away and press the accelerator pedal very lightly, the chirp will be a bit louder.

Changed my exhaust to a Borla and still have the chirp.  It is not the exhaust.

How noticeable is the chirp now since you replaced the exhaust & what exactly did you replace?

Yikes glad I found this thread!  I have a 2021 6.2L 10-speed Chevy Trailboss LT.  Mine has done the same from new.  When im slowing down to come to a stop right before I get to a complete stop there is an audible chirp.  It goes away when stopped and doesnt appear when accelerating.  Only decelerating.

I had the muffle and adaptive valve deleted and its still there.  Funny thing is the dealer is saying put it back to stock as they usually check the adaptive valve to see if thats the issue....Well I deleted it duhhhhh and its still an issue.

Luckily another dealer is going to do a full once over.  Its annoying and sounds cheap but as long as its not hurting the truck I guess I just deal with it.

If anyone else has a solution though let me know!

Just got a 21 AT4 6.2L and when i remote start is sounds like a sqeaking/chirping belt. Drives me crazy. Don't really have the time to goto the dealer with it at this point.

I have a 2020 6.2 Trailboss I have a muffler/flap delete and thought that maybe the lack of backpressure/reverberation was causing it because it sounded to be in the exhaust. I have a Borla Atak coming i was hoping would remedy the issue, sounds like it wont.

Did they say what is causing it? I was going to take mine down but have been down this road before with the dealers..."cant reproduce" "its normal"...$66,000 truck shouldn't chirp and squeak like a POS....my last 4 trucks haven't done this. Very annoyed with you.

Did they tell you what it is and how it's "normal"....None of my trucks have ever sounded like this.

It's the starter.  I didn't believe them at first and they don't know exactly how the starter is creating the chirping, but they said there's a noticeable reduction in the sound with a new starter.  They replaced mine, and it is better but still there for about a second.  Previously it would last several minutes after startup.

Yeah mine lasts a long time too, sounds like a belt in an old POS car haha.

I just purchased a 2021 Sierra, 6.2L.  Same noise.  Frustrating to see this thread without a solution.  I've had it to the dealer twice and told they couldn't hear it, only to hear it at ever stop on the way home.  I'm going to try another GMC dealership... i'm hoping this is corrected.  Embarrassing and frustrating to hear on a brand new truck.  I'll post if anything is resolved.

Yep my 20' did this but only at cold start and autostarts.  My 21' I now hear doing it at low speed downshifts as well.

It's interesting it's the starter since I'm hearing it downshifting as well.  I haven't tried it yet but I've read at least a couple people on facebook say that running in L9 (which disables DFM and autostop) also stops the noise at low speed downshifts.

I've heard GM claim it's everything from the high pressure fuel pump, exhaust flappers, stator, starter, so far I don't think I've seen anything conclusive that was replaced and has eliminated the noise for anyone.   You'd think after 3 models years they'd have this sorted out.
