New 2019 Silverado bumping & jerking

I hate to say it but your husband should of included you on a purchase like this, especially if you have to use it at times. As someone else said you are coming from a loaded truck to a non loaded one and things like ride quality and comfort features like not having to re-adjust the seat every time you drive so you can do something like see out of the window should of made your husband open his wallet a little further for something that you yourself would be more comfortable in.

For the jerky shifting type slow driving bucking motion see if your truck has the grade braking feature enabled like my 14. Disabling it seriously fixes about 90% of the odd shifting behaviours these gm transmission exhibit imo, or atleast for my 6 speed. To turn it off in my truck at least and im sure its still the same in yours, press and hold in the tow haul button for like 5 seconds which is located on the end of the shifter until you get the grade braking disabled message on the gauge cluster. It's a terrible damn feature that should be automatically disabled at the start and only applied if the operator wishes it be turn it on when towing. Gm seems to think everyone has a 5,000 lb trailer there towing in the mountains. Seriously stupid of gm to have this feature active the second you start the truck imo!

I have almost worn the damn button out turning that crap feature off everytime i get in my truck!

So I think the unloaded truck is one issue, but I think what she's frustrated with is the throttle response of the silverados with the 5.3. I noticed it also, and it bothered me so much I switched from a TB to an AT4 primarily for the 6.2 with the 10 speed, which is much more responsive and in tune with my foot.

I've heard people suggest getting one of these https://www.pedalcommander.com/ to help dial in the gas pedal to be a little more even and quick to respond.

Throttle response on K2 is also lagging.

About the only way to fix this on T1 is with a Pedal Commander or similar throttle body enhancer.

It is not the 5.3 lagging, I can assure you.

Ha!  DH = Dear Husband. ?

Thanks everyone for your ideas!  We took it back to the dealer today to get the tonneau cover installed so we can put weight in the back  but they ordered the wrong one so another trip next week. Grrr.  They rechecked the tire pressure and they were over 40 so lowered them to 35 and it seems better. They checked everything else that was suggested here and came up with no revelations.  One thing I did stumble on is turning off the Auto Stop feature (which evidently turns the engine  almost off at stop lights) helps a lot with the jerking when it starts up after a stop. The transmission seems to be smoothing out a little, and they said to give it more time.  And weight in the back will help.  As long as we know that theres nothing really “wrong” with it, I guess we will live with it.  Thanks again.

My 2019 LT definitely surges a bit at light throttle on the 1-2 or maybe 2-3? upshift and downshift.  I'm at 250mi so still getting to know the truck.

Have you tried perf mode?  Seems to hold gears longer and lunge less to me in perf mode.

I have a 2019 silverado  double cab short bed . Ride is worst on concrete than tar. Had a 2015 about the same truck rode better.  Took my 7000 capacity trailer about 45 miles, on rougher section of interstate , ride was terrible . I have  since changed to 4" drop hitch from a 2", took off 200 lbs. tongue weight , better.  Any  ideas air bags  or air shocks. The rear of this truck needs tamed down . Thank 419 Mike

Hi I went from a great riding Tahoe to this 2019 z71 bumpy truck, I’ve found that running the rear tires at 30-32 psi cold and the fronts at 34-35  make the truck ride better just remember to increase the tire pressures when hauling a heavy load
