I cut a 2x10 to use as a rear divider in the bed. There doesn’t seem to be any way to get a solid board in, as it’s too long to fit past the sides of the bed, and won’t go in on an angle. Has anyone else tried and succeeded? Maybe I’m just being retarded but I tried and tried..

I guess I can’t visualize how that would help? As it’s still going to be like 72” long?

You need to cut the length of it to fit.  A 2x8 fits but it has to be the length of the inner bed.  I dont know the dimensions off hand but 72 inches seems too long.

The slots are 72.5 inches apart with the spray in liner. Remember, they carved out more room for larger payload capacity, and I think that’s the problem.

As a side note: I used a ratcheting bar in my Tacoma that goes to 70” and it doesn’t reach wall to wall.

Hm, I would try trimming the would down a quarter inch at a time until you get it to fit in.  Also the width of the 2x10 may not allow it to turn and squeeze in which is why I would recommend a 2x8 as GM specified in their marketing of the bed

They specified this? I’ll try trimming it down some tonight and see what happens

Yes, saw a video a while back where one of the engineers was talking about the new bed and I remember him specifically mentioning dividing the bed with a 2x8

Interesting, but if I didn’t actually see it I’d say it’s equally as likely something that was never actually checked, they just assumed. My thought is, the slots aren’t very deep, so if I trim much off, the board won’t stay in place. If I trim enough to fit it in, and it want stay in place, I’m not doing myself any favors!

You could make a 2x12 work if you wanted to. The problem is when you try to angle it to get it in/out, the taller lumber has a longer diagonal dimension and gets stuck. Try trimming the top & bottom corners to shorten the diagonal length. It can be done, but you won't have a full rectangular piece of wood any more.

I just used a 2x4 for mine and I still trimmed/rounded the bottom corners to fit better in my slots.

I used a 2X6, cut into thirds and placed 1 section behind 2 sections to make it 'adjustable' for width.
